My friend from high school who is the Michigan men's hockey beat reporter for their school newspaper just tweeted that Merrill is playing tonight for U of M. This'll be his first college game this season, right? I'm curious what sort of role they'll use him in.

That's great news on Merrill, they could really use him.

Here is some bad news on Rodwell though:

http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=13500&ATCLID=205356714

North Dakota Head Coach Dave Hakstol announced today that sophomore forward Derek Rodwell will miss the remainder of the 2011-12 season with a shoulder injury.

Rodwell injured his left shoulder in UND's Dec. 30 game against Harvard and will have season-ending surgery later this month.

The Taber, Alberta, native had one goal and one assist in 19 games this season. As a freshman last season, he appeared in 39 games and registered five goals and four assists to help lead UND to Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) regular season and playoff championships, as well as a berth in the NCAA Frozen Four.

Buzzing the Net - Great blog that covers junior hockey, has an informative article on 10 potential first round picks of the 2012 draft class who have suffered significant injuries this year. I definitely suggest taking some time to read it.

Those rankings are pretty bad, what it does show us is how weak out prospect pool is outside the NHL.

Just out of curiosity what would your rankings be?

Also, the NHL Central Scouting will release its mid-season rankings for the 2012 NHL Draft on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.

TSN's Craig Button's Top 60 Draft Prospects (Updated 1/16)

I'm not an expert but I have to say his list looks a lot different than other ones I've seen out there.

I've been meaning to post a spreadsheet with the prospects stats this year but I haven't had the chance to put it together. Fortunately, In Lou We Trust has that in their weekly prospect update.

I had a quick google but i couldn't find anything but is there a reason Patrick Daly hasn't played a game in what seems like forever?
