Sharifijanov2099
So, what happens now with Fraser/Pelley since they went unclaimed? Is it the kind of thing where Lou will attempt to trade them for a bag of pucks right up until the roster deadline, and if he can't, they go to the AHL and make their NHL 1-way contract salaries (and overpayment but not counted against the cap)? Or is there some scenario where they somehow are around for the start of the season?
Quinn01
They wont be seeing any time with the Devils. Most likely theyll be bought out. If not, theyll be in Albany. Edited October 5, 2011 by Quinn01
Devils731
The Devils have 30 days where they can send them to Albany without having to put them through waivers again. Or the Devils can just keep them on the NHL roster and never send them down. The Devils can try to make any trade they like during or after this 30 days with them. Right, but they'd count against the max roster size if we keep them with the team, no?

Probably just lingering around as insurance in case the Devils trade someone else, likely I see them being sent down.
Devils731
Right, but they'd count against the max roster size if we keep them with the team, no? Yes, so only they and non-waiver eligible people can be sent down to clear up roster space before the deadline today. The Wed. roster doesn't necessarily represent what's going on in the season though. The Devils could send Henrique down for a roster spot, make a trade, then call Henrique right back up before the game on Saturday, as an example. That saves the Devils from having to put Pelley through re-entry waivers, if they're still looking at trades as a possibility. CarpathianForest
Really dumb to leave Pelley out there unclaimed. He's a great 4th liner who works his butt off night in and night out.
njdevil26
If teams weren't willing to take either of them basically for free when they were originally put on waivers, I can't see any team trading something and giving up something for them. I think the only way they go anywhere is if Lou is told a team will take one or both of them on re-entry waivers at half price. I don't think they'll be bought out... the other option is is to send them down to Albany and then just work on trading them for a while and see what happens. Idk if JVB wants to pay two NHL salaries to two guys in Albany.

Z-Man
So basically these guys are on the opening night roster, and will be regular healthy scratches. No point sending them to Albany & paying them NHL salaries when there's room on the roster.

A team may be interested in trading another 1-way salary back to us that may be of use to us... just as Fraser/Pelly may be of use to them. And no additional 1-ways were taken on by either side. But likely, yea...for the most part, no one needs them right now... but through the 1st month of the season, as teams see what they really have and what injuries happen... there may be more interest, etc.
GoArmySports
To bad they don't have two way contracts so they could be put in the minors.

Waiving both guys keeps their options open. If they can't come to a contract agreement w/ Stralman, then both of them will likely stay on the big club. If they can/do sign Stralman, then one of the two will be sent down. Which one will depend on whether they decide to carry 7 or 8 D-men.
