Zac Rinaldo fined 5k

23 posts in this topic

Philadelphia Flyers center Zac Rinaldo has been fined a total of $5,000 as a result of two separate incidents during NHL Game No. 768 against the New Jersey Devils Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

Rinaldo was fined $2,500, the maximum allowed under the Collective Bargaining Agreement, for his late hit on Devils center Jacob Josefson at 12:51 of the second period. Rinaldo received a minor penalty for interference.

Rinaldo also was fined the maximum $2,500 for his dangerous trip of Devils left wing Zach Parise after the whistle at 11:38 of the third period. No penalty was assessed on the play.

The fine money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Im wondering how this guy isn't suspended.

Oh give me a break Shanny! These were obvious attempts to injure when a star player takes exception and drops his gloves to stop it you need to step up and suspend the a$$hole!

Seriously 5K is like 20 bucks for these players.

ScoreMore what is your source by the way? You need to put that in ASAP.

Complete bullsh!t! should be sitting for 5000 games, and the coach should be fined!

I agree. I seriously was never that big of a Flyers hater for some reason. I know a lot of people talk about them but I just never care enough about them in order to hate them I guess. This game pretty much added them to my hate list of: Rangers, Boston Red Sox, NY Jets, and now Philadelphia Cryers.

Beat writers raising their eyebrows to this lame response.

Tom Gulitti

Rinaldo fined $2,500 for late hit on Jacob Josefson in 2nd period and $2,500 for what NHL called "dangerous trip" on Zach Parise in 3rd.

The slew foot is the new headshot in the NHL. Wink, a nod and a fine. Very disappointing.

And then when someone finally takes justice into their own hands and pounds this thug into the ice they'll wind up getting ten games

Meh, $5000 is a decent amount for a guy who probably won't make more than NHL minimum. Unfortunately, the NHL has a precedent to not suspend for slew foots - they didn't suspend Larsson for his, they didn't suspend Subban for his, etc.

Didn't Colin Campbell once suspend Holik for one?

"The slew-foot really shouldn't be in the game but 6-nothing we were down and someone had to stir the pot," Rinaldo said.

So the slew foot shouldn't be there but you're surprised you got fined?

Although, I would have not punished him for hitting Josefson and given him a game for the slew foot.

This right here, this just shows what a stupid fvcking player he is. He doesn't really regret what he did, and he'll surely do it again.

I hope people look back at this fail of a fine when he actually hurts someone.

Puckdaddy mentioned that he forfeited more money from the two fines than from a 1-game suspension, so I think that's fine.

Elias. Boulton. Rinaldo. I see what you're doing, Bettman, you sly dog. You're gonna bail Vanderbeek out with money raised from fines incurred during Devils games.

This guy is a complete POS with absolutely no talent.

I'm not surprised with Shanny's decision. He's still probably pissed at Lou for cutting his ass 2 years ago.

God the Rangers really own their lives this year.

Too bad nobody slew footed him yesterday.
