John Madden Retires

Another gem not mentioned yet...

I forget which playoff year it was, but Madden drew Mario Lemieux's ire when he (Madden) duped Lemieux to pass him the puck by slapping his stick on the ice and calling "Ace." Lemieux was *pissed.* Good sh!t right there.

Omg I have to see this, I do not remember it at all.

My favorite Mad Dog moment is when I actually got to see him play live here in Finland with Wild against the Hurricanes. I also got to touch his hand, haha. :P

One of my all time favorite Devils, for sure.

That was the 2001 ECF. Remember having a good laugh about that.

My favorite Maddog moment. Also the loudest I ever heard the home building:

Absolutely. It's also amazing how only 1/2 of the people in the building could make so much noise considering (as the NY media loves to tell us) the building was 50% Rags fans.

It's going to be tough to replace him on Monday Night Football

I still regret selling my Madden game worn jersey

Hated when he went to Pitt, but he had a great career and spent the best of it with the Devils

If it's any consultation Randy McKay is my all-time favorite Devils player.

He was the first Devil I ever met when I was 9 years old, a great guy.

This is the evolution of my all time favorite Devils.

McKay

Brylin

Brodeur

Sykora

Rafalski

Elias

Zubrus

Kovalchuk

Really happy that Madden not only had a great career but is able to stay in the game. I wish him the best in his new role!

I was young when Stevens played from 99-04. As a young kid I loved the goaltenders and forwards, or flashy defensemen like Rafalski. I never fully appreciated Stevens until I was older. Obviously now I love the man!

I missed this. I loved John Madden. I'm happy he showed he still had some game left after leaving. Great role player for NJ, I really enjoyed watching him play.
