Would you trade Adam Larsson...

381 posts in this topic

There's no room for Larsson until Salvador is gone. is say let Sal go at the end of the contract and then offer Adam a nice 5 year (maybe longer, he's only 21) deal, maybe 2 million per.

Other than that, trade him and see what comes back.

Lou is not going to make that offer unless Larsson plays regularly and with the play of the present D Larsson is a bench warmer. If there is an injury with one of the three young D he will play until they come back from injury. Then he is back to the bench. If a Vet D is injured I wouldn't be surprised to see Harrold come in and Larsson ride the pine. The best thing he can do for himself is get as far away from the Devils as soon as he can.

Well revisiting this topic and seeing my huge "NO". As much as i hate Subban now i'd do it, he's not great defensively but he's really good offensively. Adam is not great both ways.

I'd love that, one of the only few players worth anything on Florida.

Larsson for Gudbranson and dump Sal, call it good. Dynasty D.

I was always under the impression that Gudbranson was another guy like Larsson who wasn't reaching the potential that everyone had hoped for early in his career.

On another note, nobody would have thought that Brodin would be getting a long term deal before Larsson back on draft day 2011. It's interesting how the guy who seemed to be far and away the best defenseman in the draft class is having trouble getting games in the NHL, while several of the other first rounders aren't.

Gudbranson is awful - I would not trade Larsson for him.

Everyone is awful according to you.

Everyone is awful according to you.

1. Someone naming a player

2. Tri heading to some stats website

3. Look up his corsi , shooting % and wtv numbers... numbers are not showing dominance or something great

4. Comes back posting player X is awful without really looking into situations and looking at the player play to see why his numbers are what they are.

wash, rince, repeat.

He's older than Larsson and he is worse than Larsson.  Sorry if I don't just judge players by how high they were drafted.

My post was tongue-in-cheek, but yeah, you pretty much say everyone is awful.

Yes, that's me, never considering context.  You're as good a reader as you are a thinker.  Gudbranson is not good.

I feel the return should be fairly significant considering his experience and I think Larsson is in the top 6 of a team like NYR, who doesn't have a whole lot of depth in their prospect D.  It would never happen with New York, but their are quite a few teams that would use Larsson in their top 6.  I think we can get a 2nd rounder and maybe a forward coming back.

It's a fact, sorry to break it to you. I remember you calling players or prospects (you've never seen live) playing overseas awful cause they had a bad shooting % which was the only info you had on them.

You're as robotic as an human being can get, that's no news to anyone here.

While no one would say Triumph is the most optimistic guy in the world, there were a few people jumping on him recently over his thoughts on how good Tomas Hertl is, saying that he was overstating his talent.

He's also consistently said that we should not trade Gelinas because he has the potential to be very good and is a type of talent that we've not seen in NJ for quite a while.

So to say Tri is never positive isn't true. Just like how it's not true that you, SD, always disagree with LL and bash his signings, trades and other decisions, even though it may seem that way at times lol.

You have as good a memory as you are a reader or a thinker.  Does this make any sense?  Could you think about this for a single second and think 'Hey, does this make sense?'  It just shows you don't even know what you don't know - you haven't paid attention to a lot of what I've written.

ATL:  he wasn't calling me a pessimist, he's saying I judge players without context.  The enormous irony of course is that A: I do consider context and that B: it's a lot easier to be skeptical of my method than it is to come up with a counter method.  First it's 'Corsi doesn't matter' now it's 'you have no context'.

You can certainly try to turn this around but i remember clearrrly what i said and if youre really saying that youre never coming up with a statement like... "This guy is no good cause "insert some not favorable stat" bla bla bla..." Black on white with no context. Well i dont know what to tell you. You never bring any context or intangibles or anything other than numbers in your statements, or if u do its verryyyyyyyyyy not often.

when sal is gone - there will be a place for defensive defensman helgeson. not for i_can_understand_who_am_i defensman larsson

Find it, then.  You remember it so clearly that you can't even remember who it's about.  I'm almost sure I know who you are thinking of and you are misremebering.

Sure seems like a trade involving Larsson is inevitable at this point.  I wonder what a pacakge of Larsson, Brunner, JJ & a 1st (next seasons?) would bring back.

Nothing great obviously, but..

What about trading Larsson, JJ, Brunner and this year's first to a basement team who is struggling for scoring for their 1st rounder this year?  Would be worth a gamble and maybe there is such a team that would bite, even with Eichel and McDavid up for grabs.

I don't get why people are talking this way about the players not playing.  Behind Larsson on the depth chart is Helgeson or Harrold.  Behind Brunner is Boucher.  Behind JJ is Tim Sestito.  The Devils are going to need all of these players quite soon, and they especially need them to keep those other guys out of the lineup (not Boucher obviously, but Sestito, absolutely)

no team would do that, the chance at those 2 is too great to pass up.

I'm not really worried about Larsson and I'm still struggling to figure out why everyone want to move him. His value is at an all time low, and so what if he never becomes anything better than a mid pairing defensman? Does that all of a sudden make us need to knee-jerk and trade him?

Also want to note that I appreciate the differing views available on the board, whether they be robotic, passionate, rose-colored or negative. The differing views are what makes the forum great, we shouldn't be putting others opinions down.

I mean I wouldn't trade them but if there is no light at the end of the tunnel for him then maybe it is time to move on from him.  I agree that I doubt anyone would really take the offer I proposed, but we have seen weirder (or maybe dumber) trades before happen.  Who knows, maybe a team is in a "we need scoring now" mode that isn't exactly at the very bottom, but is low enough where their pick would be higher than ours at draft time.
