KOVALCHUCK

I don't consider my thoughts ridicules at all.  I've been a big Kovy defender.  But you have to look at this season and ask the questions.  He has a huge contract with Jersey, and with that comes huge expectations.  You can't overlook the fact that when the lockout ended, he missed our training camp to play in Russia.  You can't totally ignore the comments attributed to him while in Russia when the lockout ended, and I stand by my belief that the guy sufferred a severe injury.  He should be giving it more time to rest so he'll be ready next season.  He's played a lot of hockey the past 12 months and a large percentage of that was with another team.

No you don't have to ask any of those questions at all. He got back for game 1 and that's all that matters - he didn't need training camp - he was in shape from the KHL. And he was clearly ready - he was logging the most minutes of any forward in the league before his injury.

Again, this is ridiculous - We are 3 years into his contract - are you going to talk about his, "huge contract," forever and act like every decision in his life must be acquiescent to the deal? He feels he can play in Russia and that's good enough for me. Or should I go with your gut instinct about how he feels?

There's not even any reason to be a, "Kovy Defender." That in itself implies an issue to be debated. It's like you are just looking to whine and make drama out of nothing. Kovy has been a team leader in every way; he has probably worked harder than any player in the league over the past three years - he changed his game and learned skills and strategy completely foreign to him. And he did it like a trooper. He also was one of the top scorers in the league last season and playoffs - despite a serious injury.

He has given everything to this team. He has been a quintessential Devil - and you are still digging something up. Stop acting like this is year one on the Devils for him - he's been around awhile now.
