Only way I'd gamble is if I had some cash I really couldn't use on something better(unlikely), then maybe I'd play some blackjack, a few tries at the roulette wheel, that's about it. I don't know, maybe it's just that I understand math, but I don't like playing a game where I cannot gain the upper hand no matter what I do. I mean, sure, if you want to just do it for "fun", go right ahead, but I just don't see the entertainment value in playing games you could play anywhere, all for the VERY small chance you'll make money. I've never been in there but I hear it's extremely nice. They tried to cater only to "high class" when they opened last year which is why they almost went out of business. This year they toned it done and are taking all the business they can get. If you like getting the free drinks while in the casinos Ballys is one of the best because you can order straight from the slot machines instead of waiting for one of the drink girls to come by. Free mixed drinks + tip or $1 bottles of beer. Last year when wifey and I stayed in Ballys we'd be able to just keep a slow pace at the slots, drink for 2-3 hours and only lose $20-$30 bucks each...which is on par or less of what I'd spend at a bar. As far as attractions. this year we did the dolphin tour at the marina. 2 hour cruise from 1-3 and they guarantee dolphin sitings or they give you another tour free. Next time we come just the two of us, wifey and I want to do the cocktail cruise which is at 6pm, goes down then back up the Atlantic City casino run, and is open bar. Margaritaville and Land Shark which are Jimmy Buffet's chains are brand new this year outside of Resorts. The board walk area isn't as trashy as it used to be. You're fine walking the board walk after dark as long as the bars are still open. Other then that, Ripley's had some new stuff this year they didn't have last year...IDK guess it depends what you enjoy doing to tell you what is new or good in the area, also depends last time you were down here. I don't gamble as much as I used to, but in my experience, blackjack dealers will always tell you what the right move is if you don't know. And people at the tables generally seem to know too. Said their management was completely stupid.. As much as he tried, they insisted on a lot of dead space (very notable by the check in desks which could hold a line of 200 people easy, but why) and he said the biggest issue was that their vision was to appeal to younger people (18-40) but charge a premium.. For some reason they forgot that young people don't make 50+ year old salaries and can't blow $300+ on a room plus $40 cover at the club plus $20 on a cheeseburger at Central They basically had the mentality that "if we build it, people will spend whatever it takes to come" and it just doesn't make sense with their intended market That said, Revel is awesome.. The rooms all basically have iPads that control everything from the TV to streaming Pandora, turning on and off lights, and closing/opening the shades.. The floor is gorgeous and the restaurants are nice.. This year we are down for my daughters National Dance Competition which is held in Bally's, but, since that is being held there we are staying in Wyndham Skyline Towers since my parents have a timeshare there. As long as you can pace your slot button pushing, you can do well in terms of alchohol/cost compared to all other casino's for the simple fact you can just order and they come. You don't have to wait to find someone, order, then wait for them to fill the rest of their ticket to go fill it and bring your drink. Also, I like that Bally's gives you an actual bottle of beer for $1 instead of a tiny cup of draught beer. My brother's architecture firm worked on Revel.. Stayed at the Showboat though, couldn't spend $500 for one night on a room at Revel, couldn't find any deals online. You look like you can win big at baccarat but its that game they have in every James Bond movie where 99% of the audience have no clue if he is winning or not since they don't understand the game and the dealer is usually speaking in a really dapper French accent ( the dealer in those movies is always French, even if its someplace else like South America). The only time people know if bond wins is by the reaction of the other players. I tried learning baccarat on the computer but I felt like I should be wearing a tuxedo while doing the tutorial. I'm going to be staying at a timeshare this year but usually stay at ballys because I always get great rates and always get upgraded rooms due to their incompetence. At least they make up for it and upgrade you. I'm at Wyndham Skyline this year, which is really nice. All efficiency suites I'm guessing. 1BR, 1BR deluxe and 2BR deluxe rooms. If you're staying here...it's really nice except they have basically 2 elevators for 32 floors or some crap. Takes forever. It is my gf's parents time share and honestly not even sure how they can afford it. First time at ballys got upgraded to a garden suite after our bathtub started getting sewage through the spout. Thank god neither was in when it happened. Second time got updated to another suite when original room that we requested non smoking because my gf is sensitive to it reeked of smoke. Third time we got upgraded to ocean view suite when original room had freshly stained pillows and hair all over the bed and bathroom when we got there. I'm not talking about head hair either... Funny story: Last December I entered the Revel football pick'em. I went 8-7, no line, straight up. Totally dreadful. I was one of the 1,000 winners and got $25 slot play. That's how little foot traffic they had. I thought they sent the email to the wrong person when I got it. AC needs cheap, and by cheap, I mean, relative cheap. It needs quick service restaurants and free drinks at the poker bar and oodles of cheapo slot machines and multi-line gimmick video poker. Cheap poker tournaments, etc. You can have the high end stuff too, but if you cut off "cheap", you cut off almost all of your weekday business. I've gone into the Mussel Bar a couple of times, I love their beer selection. But whenever I've been in there there's a couple of people eating and a couple people drinking, they have to be losing hand over fist, and if the restaurants don't go out of business, they'll run for the hills when their leases are up.
