RUMOR Jagr interested in Devils

@PantzNHL
"A report out of Russia suggests that Jaromir Jagr is interested in signing with the #Devils to play alongside Elias. I guess we'll see soon."

Discuss...since we already have a million other player threads lol.

I wouldn't mind it if he is cheap and given a minimal role on the third line and PP.

Jagr putting on a Devils jersey would be pretty damn cool. But I know he wants a large amount of money, and I don't think he would be effective after an 82 game season. He was pretty useless for the Flyers in the 2012 playoffs. He was just out of gas.

Seeing him in a Devils jersey would be surreal, but unless he takes a huge discount this is just hot air.

Plus we just freed up cap space for younger guys, our RFA's and for possibly Zids.  Why waste some of that on Jagr?

Why not lol. The thing I liked most from Jagr in the playoffs was his puck possession.

Ryder Zajac Kovalchuk

Elias Loktionov Jagr

Clowe Henrique Zubrus

Josefson Carter Bernier

He'd have to come here for waaay less than the 4 mil he got last season.

I would have wanted him if it weren't for the Clowe and/or Ryder signings. I don't see a fit anymore, though. It really doesn't make sense.

3rd line and PP would be great for us. Adding another forward to bring some creativity to the PP would be perfect for this club.

I would love to have him here.

And anything that we wind up paying him is made back in spades by fans 30 and older insta-buying a Jagr jersey. Coz let's face it, a good chunk of us will.

Yes please. I can't see depth being a bad thing at all. Given the right price, around the $2 mil at max.

Maybe if Henrique was traded for a very good prospect package. I have a feeling many teams would overpay for Henrique and his "clutchness".

I don't think Jagr would sign unless he was guaranteed a top 6 role on the team and he could play RW, unfortunately for him I don't think he fits into any of those positions on our team.

It would be cool to see him play for the Devils but I agree with what was said above in that he'd probably be out of gas come playoffs.

+1

One of those players I always wanted to see with the Devils.  I would geek out if it happens.  Hopefully he signs for a cheap rate, and can be useful in a limited role and on the PP!

No thanks. I can't stand him and I have no desire to see him in a Devils jersey.

Isn't he somewhat friendly with Brodeur too? It's possible it's just mutual geriatric respect though too.

Same draft class, same division for years.   Played in some All Star games together, etc.  It is a little bit of both I'd say; friendliness/familiarness and the "mutual geriatric respect"

agreed that he'd be useful on the PP and agreed that he'd not be terribly helpful come playoff time.  i was surprised when jags initially came back to the nhl with phili and got as much money as he did.  difficult for me to think he'd take a 2m+ paycut, but hey, i also don't know the market and what the collective GM consciousness is at the moment on this guy.  seems unlikely that NO team would offer him 4m and that jersey is his last option.

i'd be all for giving him 4m if it also meant we'd found a way to unload salvador, but that's more than wishful thinking.

This season will have tons of back to back games, if he sits most of those out it would keep him pretty fresh.

Someone's gonna tell the 8th highest scoring player of all time he's sitting out back-2-backs?  I doubt it.

I think we have enough forwards. He will settle for the third line and play itch limited ice-time though then why not?

Jagr isn't Jagr anymore.  He just went all a whole playoff season where his team made all the way to game 6 of the finals and he didn't score a single goal.  What the hell do we want him for ?  Dallas completely hosed Boston for that first rounder.  If he came here for league min or close I guess I wouldn't mind.  I don't know how seriously he would take his position here if he was playing on the cheap.  It just seems like a big headache in the making.
