'7'
14,521 Not horrible considering the arctic front that moved in. This is not really the day you want to be anywhere. I don't care if I got free Fire/Ice lounge tickets. It's not worth it standing outside for even 30 seconds.

NJDevs4978
I actually thought there was more people there tonight than there was for their 'sellout' last week lol...then again it's probably harder for me to tell from the lower bowl. But my section seemed filled enough other than my specific row. Then again this was yet another voucher game (one of three games offered for the toy voucher), so maybe those tickets just weren't counted. I'm not the most tolerant person in the world of cold but sweet jesus that's a little much The cold wasn't that bad other than on my face (the only uncovered part of my body)...it's all about what you wear and where you wear it. I had a sweater and heavy coat, as well as gloves - which I do NOT usually use. My only fear with the cold was my car not starting in Newark
Mike Brown
I was thinking about going to the game tonight. but I decided against it because I was too tired.
Colin226
almost thought it wouldve been a sell out tonight thought there was a pretty good turn out there.. but kind of sad that a rival game didnt even sell out But you have to remember that with variable pricing, they are looking to maximize revenue, not necessarily get more people to the game.. Who knows, maybe a 2014 sellout versus the Flyers at the higher pricing tier generates more revenue than a 2009 sellout when it was a flat rate for any game.. It certainly alters the buying behavior of fans who would only go to Rangers/Flyers games since those used to be the same price as a mid-week Coyotes game
MadDog2020
Dude, that # is WAY too low. It was packed tonight.
Mike Brown
Dude, that # is WAY too low. It was packed tonight. It's how they've been recording the numbers this year. We have a 16,592 seating capacity without actually losing any seats from last year.
ThreeCups
They keep playing like this they will be playing in an empty barn come March when we are 16 points out of a playoff spot....
DJ Eco
14,521 Looked like more to me, that's strange. One thing I noticed is that Flyers fan support at The Rock has nosedived since that 2012 playoff series. They got downright emotionally man-handled that month, I remember seeing kids and girls crying as they were leaving, we abused them. And then last year, we swept them in all our meetings as well. So this one and the last home game against the Flyers (which was on a Saturday), I've noticed drastically less fans of theirs than pre-2012. Hope they don't start coming back though, beating us twice pretty handily at home. They look like they're having a great time again. gardenstatepkwy
Was finally able to get out to my first game of the season last night with my old man. Maybe its just me but the overall atmosphere at the Rock seemed better last year. Not sure I can put my finger on it but I remember the games I went to last year vs PHI were pretty wild crowd-wise. It seemed more rowdy last year. Last nights game seem tame. I'd also like to say that as several people have noted there is certainly a hige difference in music selection this season - in between plays, when the Devils come out before periods and the goal song and all for the worse. A ton of classic rock last night (which I actually love but would like more of a mix). Even my dad noticed it and said something. Oh yeah that new goal song is a catastrophe. It's awful. And bring back Seek and Destroy EVERY period when the Devils hit the ice.

Guy behind me was with his dad for their first game of the season and was saying a lot of the exact same stuff you just listed out haha Figured I'd ask. DevsMan84
I wonder what this was about.. Right now the rumors are: 1) Devils are going to host an upcoming NHL All-Star game (I think this is the most likely thing as they have been owned one since 2007 when the Rock opened) 2) World Series of Poker is going to be coming to the Rock (very unlikely as I think it has to be held in a casino) 3) Sixers are moving to the Rock thus they are "all-in" the arena that our new owners now run (I think this is pretty unlikely) 4) Major sponsorship deal with a either a physical or online casino (I see this as 2nd most likely)
snartly
All star game maybe? Usually places that the draft take place in have it within the next few years
Mike Brown
They keep playing like this they will be playing in an empty barn come March when we are 16 points out of a playoff spot.... This is so overblown. The attendance didn't drop in 2011. Why would it drop this year?

We had exciting players there, and we were playing LIGHTS OUT HOCKEY trying to get back into the playoff race.... If you think the attendance would be the same for this offensively challenged/uninspiring/boring group you are sadly mistaken my friend. People in NJ do not pay to come see a mediocre Devils team out of the playoff race, that I can assure you. ThreeCups
I can almost assure you that overall attendance wouldn't drop that drastically. If they report actual scanned tickets vs tickets sold you will see a noticeable drop off
TheRedStorm
This is so overblown. The attendance didn't drop in 2011. Why would it drop this year? Because there won't be as many free tickets and absurd ticket discounts this time around. The fact that they made being a bad team somewhat fun in the 2nd half peaked curiosity and gained interest to fill even the free seats.
