It wasn't a sellout. There was no energy from what I saw. Definitely not what you expect from the Battle Of Hudson.

What's hilarious is like TG pointed out, the number was actually about 40-50 higher for Opening Night and that wasn't called a sellout.  They need to get their stories straight over there.

Maybe it has something to do with non-box seats and how they report it this year. Maybe the seats were sold out, but the boxes weren't.

Boxes were never included in the actual attendance though(hence luxury) were there? I know about all sports teams don't incorporate suites into the attendance figure. If so somebody goofed up.

There was early on and towards the end, but especially at the beginning of the 3rd when you felt like the Devils probably had it in the bag and no one was scoring it got dead silent

Paranoia time, but could the refusal to pad attendance have anything to do with new ownership setting up complaints that there's no fan interest.

The Isles game, and I assume last night could easily have been called sell outs. I've seen just as many empty seats at a Ranger game at the garden.

were you at the game? i'm going to assume not because there was plenty of energy in the arena. i thought the fans got into it plenty considering it wasn't a game that featured fights/scrums that usually incite the crowd. you had a one sided scoring game so the home crowd was happy.

You stop that right now, don't go planting seeds like that.

The club seats are never sold out. They were the only real empties I could find in the crowd last night. Definitely more packed than opening night but, truth be told, unless they are going to discount the club seats from th official attendance figures, then this was not a sellout.

Last season, this game and opening nigHt would have been an announced 17625. Definitely a new policy from ownership to report the actual attendance figures.

lol why would they even want to pay through the nose to get out of a twenty-plus year arena lease and lucrative twenty-plus year TV deal to move to Kansas City or Seattle?

Especially when they just bought a team that's in their back yard. This is just paranoia.

But if that were true that would mean 1,100 seats went unsold for a sat night game against the rags with no mlb, nfl, nba competition. If thats true, we are in serious trouble

A lot of Rangers in the crowd this time compared to previous years. I'll say 70-30 or even 65-35, which is more  than we're used to in recent years... Not good.

The Philly teams report honestly to a T.   If they're six short they're six short.   It's the same difference, since you don't have the bizarre 10K house with 14K people there that the Devils used to do to "balance" their books.

Rangers haven't had a home game yet, so lots of pent up demand.

To qualify for revenue sharing?  :dunno:

But let's not go there.   :headless chicken:

Not everybody who owns luxury suites watches the game from the seats.  Many just stay in the boxes.

There is no way whatsoever that this wasn't a sellout.

I'd say it was about 25-30%.
