Psychotic lying Minnesota fan got us onto Deadspin

Opposing fans are always complimenting us on how we always treat outsiders respectfully.  But we're not afraid to fight back if you provoke us.  We're pretty laid back for the most part.

I agree with this in a general sense. There are always a few bad eggs in the bunch though unfortunately.

I was in in 117, I saw some of this. I was way too far away to hear the verbal exchange  but I could see a guy in a USA Parise jersey standing up taunting the crowd that was chanting "throw him out!". He had was clearly enjoying his moment turning to the crowd and wavering his arm.

Then I saw security make their way down to him, I didn't actually think they tossed him for that incident, but it's possible.

Anyway, for my 2 cents there was a Parise fan 2-4 rows behind me halfway through the first who shouted that we were all stupid for boo'ing such a great player. No one was baited, so he kept quiet the rest of the game and there were no incidents. I'm sure most Wild / Parise fans who came to the game had an uneventful experience.

I don't have a hard time believing any of those things were said at the game, actually. Doesn't mean that it happened.

Anyone who is a Parise fan and expected anything less than him getting mercilessly booed probably had unreasonable expectations.

Any individual comment...sure.  A steady stream of abuse from the moment he got off the train?  You could just see this guy's nose growing reading that bs account.  Of course I saw this guy from a few sections over and he was clearly enjoying the attention, you could tell he was a grade-a d****e.

I'm sure some queef-stain Ranger fan will show up with a bunch of other queef-stain Ranger fans on Saturday, run their mouths about attendance, or Marty being fat, or 'TWO HOME ARENAS BRAH', or some other trite, stupid bullsh!t and when they get curb-stomped and are left picking up their teeth off the concourse, they'll run to the internet and complain that Devils fans are 'classless'.

I'd say that it might be a good bet that during/after Saturday night, you'll see something go viral. It just seems like there's a pot on the stove and it wouldn't take much to stir it.

Hmmm, those seem to look and act an awful lot like Rangers fans.

Right???

One part of me thinks that's a paranoid thought, but the other part of me is like, why would this guy go through such great lengths to sh!t on our team and our fans?

That's because they are.  Nobody from Minnesota would act like that.  Used to get these sh!tstains a lot more at the old place, wearing a jersey of whoever we were playing and pretending to be fans, but vomiting out the tired old Rag fan cliches all night.

Spent the entire afternoon here at work killing time by arguing with people on reddit in that very thread. Called bullsh!t from the beginning, even got him to respond to me, which was funny considering he only responded a few times prior to deleting everything.

http://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/comments/20zzbl/video_nsfw_escorted_out_of_the_devils_game_last/cg8d0wd?context=3

that's the string of comments there. I am the user TrueJersey.

here's the image that show's his replies. the top one is this photo corresponds to the one that reads [deleted] in the comment string I provided.

I mean, if anything sold me on this all being bullsh!t, it was that reply. "This was deep entrenched, family taught hatred." Lol. Yes, picturing a bunch of little kids screaming homophobic sh!t at this guy for no reason seems plausible. Throw in the fact that anything "homophobic" in nature is reddit's favorite thing to get all bent out of shape over, and this guy had a recipe for stirring the pot pretty good.

It's always funny to me when I play devil's advocate in these scenarios because initially about 90% of the thread was on his side. As if it's so farfetched that someone would lie on the internet for attention. What an outrageous concept!

The fact that Deadspin even ran with this story is ridiculous. Nobody would start taunting a guy in a Parise Team USA jersey unless seriously provoked. Do you know how many Devils fans still wear Parise USA jerseys? It's not like that's grounds for taunting.

I was at the game in section 123 near the top. He as in section 123 near the bottom. He was drinking all night... Standing up during play... Giving the entire arena the finger and filming the response to his trolling. I don't believe they threw him out. I was shocked security didn't do anything. That clown started it and is an attention grabber. We chanted to throw him out but security didn't.

This.  So much this.  Several Devils fans (myself included) still like Zach.  Simply wearing a Parise jersey isn't gonna get you heckled.

If he was flipping off the arena, that's definitely enough to get him thrown out.

Sure, that's great for any other home games. The problem here is it was the wrong night to wear Parise anything with people still angry and with the team's play on top of that. This is a pretty pissed off fanbase. If you did wear anything Parise, and you couldn't take even one comment, you should have put it back in the closet and wore something else. Even more so when you go to the game and want to be an idiot or be an obnoxious pro-Parise fan. People had to know that going in.

I was in 123 as well. Here is my account. These guys were relatively quite for the first 2 periods. They would stand and clap when the Devils took penalties, but I didn't see them trying to provoke the crowd in general up until Parise scored at the start of the third. That's when their beer balls and Napoleon complexes finally kicked in. When that happened, USA Parise jersey guy proceeded to flip off the entire crowd with the double bird salute and intentionally engaged everyone around him. Things got worse as the game progressed. This guy kept flipping everyone off, including the kids around him. He definitely took a lot of sh!t from the fans around him, but he and his loser buddies started all of it. After they scored their third goal, he went into his normal schtick and refused to sit down. That's when things started to get out of control and security came down. This fool begins arguing with them by holding up his ticket and filming them with his cell phone, all the while refusing to sit. The fans were chanting "throw him out," but the security guard didn't for some reason. It seemed like they were intimidated by the fact he was filming them. He eventually sat and, when the Devils won it in OT, they were awfully quite and understandably got a lot of heat from the crowd. Eventually, he stood up grabbing his armpit and crotch as he attempted to describe NJ while we were filing out.

I wasn't close enough to hear exactly what he was saying or what some people were saying to him so I don't know if any homophobic comments were made. I can confirm that the rangers suck-flyers swallow-Parise watches chant was used once during the game. These guys were as obnoxious as any rangers fans I've ever encountered, and that is saying a lot. They deserved everything they got, and probably more. I've seen plenty of people tossed at sporting events for far less than what this clown was doing and saying. There were a few other Wild fans around us and they weren't harassed at all. The only reason these guys got picked on is because they came in and acted like the total d-bags they are.

Funniest part of the whole thing was the "flock of seagulls" chant used to make fun of the one guys 1980's haircut.

The fact security did nothing is ridiculous.  Flipping off the crowd alone is enough to be shown the exit.

Can we all use this incident to realize how disgusting some of these chants really are. I know devils fans didn't do anything wrong in this incident but it does show you how disrespectful and pathetic the fans who yell slurs like this really are. I shudder every time I hear it. So if anyone here likes chanting that just please realize how immature it really is. I can live with the Rangers suck chant, its a classic, and that term is more acceptable but the other one just drives me up a wall.

And this is an open letter to the nutjob in 120 who gets a kick out of of saying all of these slurs and 'Crosby watches'. If you read this everyone thinks you are unbearable. You are more focused on being a comedian every single game, and all of your chants are terrible or just unoriginal. Me and a few others won't be back in that section next season because of the likes of you.

Sincerely one fed up season ticket holder.
