2014 Stanley Cup Playoffs thread

They most likely won the Atlantic and the East only because Crosby played 22 games, but  Lundqvist was excellent and the main reason they won the Conference. He won the Vezina, .930 save percentage, 8 shutouts. They scratched, clawed and barely survived  past the 7th and 8th seeds to get to the conference finals (Lundqvist had a .945 and .927 save percentage in those series)

The 2012 Devils weren't all that. Remember, they needed OT wins in game 6 and 7 to beat the Panthers. Devils got hot offensively for a few weeks, and didn't play against very tough teams. It was a fun ride, and that's all that matters.

we were a couple of bounces from winning the first 2 games of the finals. Which probably would have resulted in us winning the cup. That devils team was a very good team, we had tons of scoring depth, we had very solid defense and Marty played excellent in that play off run aside from the panthers games.

Some teams beat other teams due to match ups, the panthers gave us fits all year that year. It wasn't surprising that we struggled to beat them, given they had our number. But that didn't make us a bad team, and the rangers were tough as fvcking nails to play against, I feel like you must not have watched them in 2012. You know what was a large contributor to lunqvist excellent year in 2012? Extremely well executed play in their own zone, tons of shot blocking and sacrifice.

If the pens make it to the finals or win it all this year are they bad for struggling with the blue jackets?

With good goaltending the Panthers are probably done in 5.  The Devils got hot goaltending for several weeks and that's really what catapulted the team.  Were the Devils of 2012 elite?  Probably not, but there's definitely a case to be made that they were the best team out of the East that year.

Pittsburgh needs to wake up. Rags really took it to them in that first.

Total no show by Pittsurgh

Unacceptable. You finish a team when you have a chance. Garbage from the Pens tonight.

This is shades of Philly's Game 5 against us in 2000.   I figured the Rangers had a good shot at winning but if you're Pittsburgh you can't just throw away one like this when you have a team down.

This looks like it could be a homer series all the way to the end.

Pens let the Rags off the hook last night. The Rags will have some confidence now going home. I think its going 7 now.

i hope not.. i think at this point maybe home ice advantage only means so much they used them as mops in their own arena so i guess we will see

Derek is getting too nostalgic about the Richter years. Lundqvist is the better goalie. You don't think Lundqvist could have won the Cup with 1994 team? Do you think prime Richter is leading the Rangers of the last 7-8 years very far?  Henrik  had an incredible run in 2012 on a team that didn't have much business being there.

Richter played quite well in 1994. Lundqvist has played just as well in the playoffs, but just never had the benefit of being on a team nearly as good as the 1994 team.

It's hard to say. Overall when looking at the body of work, Lundqvist is the better goalie. From a consistency standpoint and level, there's no argument. Implying that the 1994 team could've won with Hank is like all the fans who said the Devils would've won x amount of Cups with Hasek. I'm a Hasek guy. Brodeur was a perfect fit for the Devils. His combination of stickhandling and clutch goaltending made those teams very tough to attack. Of course, he had help on the blueline and offensively. The prime Richter was very good. Injuries and poorly constructed teams wasted the second part of his career. If healthy, he wins 400 and is in the HHOF.

Lundqvist is a great puck stopper who relies on his athleticism. For my liking, he stays too far back in his net. But that's the style he's accustomed to. The 2012 team was Hank's best. But they were also a team. Everyone contributed. They should've finished off one of those rounds earlier. It was perfectly set up. The Devils got hot at the right time. The amazing aspect is it was your 4th line that beat them. All the talk about the lack of offense, they rallied from 3 down in a bad game from Lundqvist before Carter scored. They came back from 2 down in Game 6 before Henrique's clincher. That's the way it bounces. In that series, Brodeur was better than Lundqvist. Hank has had some good postseason moments. His record facing elimination and his Game 7 mark. The back to back shutouts of the Caps. He's yet to have that defining moment.

In their history, the Rangers have never rallied from a 3-1 series deficit. In fact, last night's win was the first time they even extended a series since 1982. Of all the close rivals, I despise the Pens the most. The way NBC caters to them. The stick fouls they get away with. And the most biased press who are as unprofessional as it gets. Go read Dejan Kovacevic's Twitter. What a clown. He accused Marc Staal of assault. Granted. He did give Crosby a two-hander that was dangerously close to his neck. Should've been called.

The Rangers have never beaten Pittsburgh. I'm sick of losing to that team. I was very relaxed and felt good about last night. I have the same feeling for tomorrow. I'm going. If any fan boos or utters a negative word, they should have their fan license revoked. If they can come out with the same effort, they'll force Game 7 and give the Pens something to think about. There's no reason why they shouldn't.

I hate the Kings, this is what their twitter account just posted: #LAKings with the first power play of the evening, Perry to the box for Perrying.

There's a lot of annoying tweets that come from that account, but that's pretty good.

quick let in two goals on 11 shots. I think Sutter just wanted to send a message? Didn't matter in the end though, Jones didn't give up any goals but LA still llst

Gotcha. I figured it was something like that, but I didn't know if Quick got hurt or something.

Fleury sucks and so does Pittsburgh. We'd beat both of these clown teams with 35. Clowns.

The Penguins are so easy to take off their game.  They're so mentally weak.

2-0 Rags. I will say this- very nice that St. Louis scored on Mother's Day after what he's been through. I obviously want the Rags to lose in the worst way, but I felt good for him to score a goal for his mom on Mother's Day.
