sokar
He signed 1yr for 3mil, if he plays 25 games he will get additional 1mil
The 29th Pick
i might be in the minority when saying this but during our 11-12 run, he only wanted to come here via trade. that holds a lot of weight with me that someone wants to come here AND stay here
2ELIAS6
good to have him coming back we certainly need that offensive element that he brings to the team.. but if means that fayne will not be coming back now that would kinda suck
sundstrom
They'll need a 'snot' D after Salvador is gone. And Salvador is gone after 2014-15. This means dipping into free agency - I don't think Helgeson is an NHLer and I don't think Santini will be ready. i'm not convinced they feel this way. you say it when you're talking about guys you have. but look at the successful teams now - i mean, yeah there's willie mitchell, and to a lesser extent, marc stall. but the hall gills of this world are not playing on good teams anymore. hell, pittsburgh was sheltering brooks orpik. that doesn't mean they're all going to be MA Bergeron out there. But you don't need all hit - no offense players anymore.
RizzMB30
I suppose they're prepared to allow Fayne to walk. I have a really bad feeling it's going to hurt us rather than help us.
Neb00rs
Wait...really? One year? But he's a 35+ d-man. Shouldn't he get the standard 3-year fare?
grcenter47
didnt zidlicky have a part in getting jagr here? i wonder if this was done to appease jagr
Devs3cups
Great signing. One of the good offensive d-men in the league. Both sides must be happy. Now on to Schneider and others!
The 29th Pick
I suppose they're prepared to allow Fayne to walk. MadDog2020
the rags will lose Stralman then sign Fayne and he'll have some real good seasons over there I said it earlier, but I think Fayne winds up in Boston if he doesn't stay here. The 29th Pick
I said it earlier, but I think Fayne winds up in Boston if he doesn't stay here. I dont want to lose decent players for nothing, but if we do I hope he ends up on a team I dont hate, Boston would be OK
Triumph
Boston has 6 D signed for next year and 2 RFA D that they will likely re-sign. I don't see a fit for Fayne there. i'm not convinced they feel this way. you say it when you're talking about guys you have. but look at the successful teams now - i mean, yeah there's willie mitchell, and to a lesser extent, marc stall. but the hall gills of this world are not playing on good teams anymore. hell, pittsburgh was sheltering brooks orpik. that doesn't mean they're all going to be MA Bergeron out there. But you don't need all hit - no offense players anymore. Is this a bet? Sure sounds like it to me. The Kings have both Mitchell and Regehr as well as Matt Greene - they went out and got Regehr despite already having those two. The Devils have always had at least one of these types of D, usually 2, and I don't see that changing.
RizzMB30
I dont want to lose decent players for nothing, but if we do I hope he ends up on a team I dont hate, Boston would be OK Anywhere not named New Jersey is going to be a little tough for me to get over. I think this deal gets done so early DUE to Zids age. He probably didn't want to wait until July 1st to be securely settled in Jersey. Does anyone know if there is a NTC? Hopefully Zids can repeat the year he had. If our entire defense puts up similar numbers that they did last year, we are going to be really dangerous from the back end, and I don't think we've been feared like that since the Niedermayer years. Not that I'm comparing Niedermayer to our current players at all. Edited June 3, 2014 by RizzMB30
Mitico12
We signed someone in advance of the deadline? Haha....Lou really departed from tradition.
BlueSkirt
A good signing. Looks like Gelinas won't be getting # 2 for another year.
ZeroGravityFat
love zid's offense, hate his defense. though i hate salvador's everything so hope we lose his useless dead weight.
hystyk28
Does Larsson have to pass through waivers to start in Albany next season?
Daniel
If you want to take Lou speak at face value, he said that he absolutely wants Fayne back. I hope he's serious and that it happens in the next couple of weeks. At that point you know there are going to be at least two transactions involving defensemen, which will make draft day and the opening of free agency quite entertaining. Devilsfan118
Drives me crazy on defense. But this team was so pathetic on offense..glad he's back. Bring Fayne back, please lose one/both of 28 and 24 Lou.
DH26
DO IT LOU GET ME JVR ............why in the world would toronto trade him?
William D'Aquila
Because Toronto's D is terrible, and I would deal Andy Greene in an effort to get him.
The 29th Pick
If Lou resigns Fayne, some of our D is getting traded I dont know if it's Greene but he's a free agent after next season and might command some big bucks I'm thinking one of the young D-men will be shipped out for some forward help
