MadDog2020
We're two and a half weeks away, so I figured it's time for this thread. We can talk about all things Marty Night here (are you going? Where are you sitting? Coming in from out of town? All the details and activities of the night and the weekend leading up, with the dedication of this beautiful statue): Let the countdown to 2/9 begin!
lucifer91
I will be there. Section 115, first row. Boughtmy tickets on stubhub, so hope they don't pull the kobe bryant acenario on me. Took the day off work to get down there early. Statue looks awesome, where exactly is it going again? The plaza? Bte, they said on the FAN the other night to be in your seats at 615. Colorado Rockies 1976
Think I might be going solo (couldn't get to Stevens, but did go to Dan-o and Niedermayer). Want to see the ceremony in person of course (especially this one), but also don't want to spend a fortune on a Brodeur retirement print and mini-banner off e-bay...one of many nice bonuses of actually going, in that you get those items for free. To anyone who might know...for the three previous ceremonies, pucks were made available with the player's number and the date of the ceremonies on them (white text on a mostly red background). I have all three (off e-bay). Where do you get them at the game? In the Den? Speaking of these pucks, if anyone wants to get their hands on the previous three, all are available on e-bay at the moment, for not stupid prices (I paid way more for my Stevens): http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCOTT-NIEDERMAYER-PUCK-LIMITED-EDITION-NEW-JERSEY-DEVILS-MAN-CAVE-27-/231821623337?hash=item35f9a54029:g:-NYAAOSwqYBWoVTy http://www.ebay.com/itm/SCOTT-STEVENS-PUCK-LIMITED-EDITION-NEW-JERSEY-DEVILS-BEAUTIFUL-MAN-CAVE-/231820238956?hash=item35f990206c:g:PMYAAOSwpRRWn8Pi http://www.ebay.com/itm/KEN-DANEYKO-PUCK-LIMITED-EDITION-NEW-JERSEY-DEVILS-BEAUTIFUL-MAN-CAVE/231820236471?_trksid=p2045573.c100034.m2102&_trkparms=aid%3D555012%26algo%3DPW.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20131003150253%26meid%3D8a12b53e57874199b70d85419c084bd3%26pid%3D100034%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D231820238956 I have each player's print, banner, and puck up on one of my walls...the three in tandem really look sharp. The Stevens and Dano pucks were being sold at the various merch stands at the CAA on the respective nights. Don't know where they'll be selling the Marty pucks, but I wanna make sure to get one as soon as I get there- I have a feeling they'll go quick. Colorado Rockies 1976
Yeah, it'll be a must-have for me...same for Elias when his day comes. Think I paid $150 or so for the Stevens one. The other two weren't too bad. The worst thing was my Nieds print and banner somehow got lost when I moved, so I had to get them off e-bay...actually didn't get gouged on them, but it still sucked to have to buy what I already had. Jerrydevil hooked me up with a Stevens banner and print for $20. Awesome gesture on his part.

MadDog2020
What would be cool is if the Devils sold mini Marty statues. I have a feeling those would be in huge demand. I know I'd buy one. I'm gonna probably end up spending a small fortune on merch that night lol.
Colorado Rockies 1976
I'd have to buy one of those too...a mini-statue would be too cool. I have a signed Marty mini-mask and the 552-win white stick (was lucky enough to be there for that win).

One of the sweeter giveaways for sure. I have two walls in my cave (one of which is painted Devil red) full of Scouts, Rockies, and (mostly) Devil memorabilia...the smaller of the two walls is for the number retirement goodies. The stick is on the main wall (with a lot of other good stuff). The area over my bar has some Devils stuff too.
'7'
They did a really great job with the statue, though I'd hope they'd incorporate the Stanley Cup in it somehow
Satans Hockey
Sold my normal season tickets for this game cause I had bought lower level tickets off stubhub when they were still cheap cause it was just a rumor at that point. I wanted to be closer to seeing his face on the ice and have a better view of the banner going up into the rafters. I think that mini statue idea is awesome, I would definitely buy one. This has bugged me since they started doing it but I can't stand that they have the retirement banners on both sides of the arena. It's not like you can't see them from pretty much whenever you sit. Never understood how that started.
Colorado Rockies 1976
I never understood why the Niedermayer banner wasn't corrected...both the number and letter font are wrong (they are correct on the mini-banners at least). The Nieds banner looks a little bit off as a result.

Colorado Rockies 1976
Let's see if this works: Brodeur's retirement "package" will slot under Stevens, and Elias' (can't see his number not being retired, hopefully next season) will be hung under Daneyko. I threw some other pics of my cave as well (my Mets and Patriots stuff): Edited January 24, 2016 by Colorado Rockies 1976

It will be a tragedy if your presence that night keeps a much more deserving fan from attending.

Colorado Rockies 1976
Thanks guys. Got lucky in that the basement was about 90% of where I needed it to be when I moved in. I had the one wall painted red (and two light sconces removed), had the DirecTV feed swapped from that wall to the other, had Best Buy install the second TV by the bar...and then it was just a question of handing up all of my stuff. I had most of it in place within the first month (July 2012). There's been additions/replacements and tweaks here and there since. And the occasional spousal complaint. mfitz804
Trying to talk a corporate type STH out of his tickets for that night...he hasn't been to a single game but he plans to attend that one. Will continue trying to do so, otherwise, font row seat in my living room.
DevsMan84
Hey that man-cave looks familiar! haha I have the entire banner collection which is sweet and cannot wait to add the Marty one (got a nosebleed seat for the Marty night game on stubhub the day before it was announced for like $60-70ish before fees). I have 2 of the 3 retirement pucks I am just missing either the Daneyko or Stevens. I have to check to make sure which one. They will probably sell the Marty ones in the Den before the game. I heard for the unveiling the night before the game that they are giving everyone a commemorative coin. While that's nice I was hoping for a mini-statue. I doubt they would produce them but that would be cool. IDK about anyone else and I hate to say this but I am not digging the look of the statue. It's the same artist who did the statue that is in the plaza now and I never liked that one either. To me I wish they did do one of him holding the cup instead. This is mostly because I can picture after a game some dumb Ranger schmuck doing something that breaks off a part of the stick that looks somewhat fragile on it. Just you wait. DevilMinder
I think the statue looks great! I agree with you on the breakability part though, hopefully they electrify the statue when the flyers/rangers are in town.
DJ Eco
I like the statue! Regarding the pose, keep in mind that Marty selected it.

Yeah, you saw it live, lol. Think the only addition since you've been there was the Space Invaders Deluxe machine. It's the real deal from 1979...with 1979 technology to prove it (the original power supply has been modernized, which was a must). Works great, but I've had to put in my share of repair time to keep it going...fuses, chips, getting the CRT screen fixed, etc. Tracking down spare parts isn't impossible, but it ain't easy either. I'm not sure if I had the Jagr shot machine in at that point. In case you didn't see the links I provided, whatever puck you're missing might still be available on e-bay (and at pretty good prices to boot). You may want to jump on that quickly. Coin is cool, but yeah, the mini-statue would be a lot cooler. A LOT of detail on the real thing though...might be hard to come close to reproducing accurately (and cheaply) in a mini. I do like the statue as is. A Cup one would've been sweet too. It's funny...the statue is done very well (I can't imagine the amount of time it must take to produce something like that), but the "padding" under the jersey makes him look more muscular than anything else...especially with the jersey having a slimming effect on the statue's midsection.
