Connor Cook is on the Raiders.

Ha.  Read the alert on my phone too quickly, it said "Connor Cook named starter at Texans" not "for Texans."

I know the NFL pretty well, but apparently not too well versed in the backups or third stringers for teams I don't follow.

Don't feel bad, I'm pretty sure no one knew who the hell Connor Cook was or what team he was on until Monday lol.

Yea that pretty much is a huge strike against O'Brien if he was the one pushing for the terrible Osweiler. Nothing about him ever looked like an NFL QB. I hate his arm motion when throwing...this big slow wind-up and release is a major red flag.

Despite that O'Brien has done a nice job with them with some middling/poor QB's over the past 3 years as well as a ton of injuries on O and D. They've always seemed to be a very patchwork team.

If anything I heard the opposite re: Osweiler, that O'Brien didn't even meet Osweiler in person before they signed him.  Which sort of suggests it was done above him.

I'm sure he did want better QB's than the dreck he had last year though.

No doubt this Taylor situation could get messy for Buffalo.

There's going to be a major grievance hearing on the TT situation in the near future.  Also not insignifgicant - If TT's $15 mm option vests/is picked up, (best I can tell) Buffalo is functionally cap-strapped before re-signing anyone.  There are major on-field ramifications that go beyond TT, and it will be interesting to watch how the league and PA handle things.

http://nypost.com/2017/01/05/how-john-maras-ultimatum-led-to-a-giants-transformation/

"The key to this Giants roster came two days after last season ended. On that day, John Mara met with reporters and said of general manager Jerry Reese: “Jerry knows this is on him. I’ve had that discussion. You can’t hide from it. You can’t hide from that record. It’s up to you to get it fixed because the last three years are just not acceptable.” Mara then gave a blank check to Reese. He used it to sign defensive end Olivier Vernon, defensive tackle Damon Harrison and cornerback Janoris Jenkins — a trio that propelled the Giants into the playoffs. The total bill came to just under $200,000,000.00 "

This is EXACTLY the reason that I believe Todd Bowles wasn't fired. I wholeheartedly believe a similar conversation took place between Woody & Maccagnan, that didn't make it's way through the media. Firing Bowles basically buys Maccagnan another 2-3 more years. Keeping Bowles however, keeps the two of them connected. If the Jets put out another 4-12, 5-11 season.. then they're BOTH not making it to Year #4. If anyone heard the Maccagnan interview B&C did this morning on WFAN, Maccagnan sounded agitated and subdued. And I absolutely LOVED it! This guy has done absolutely nothing in two years outside of the Fitzpatrick\Marshall moves. His signings have been more cherry-picking other teams castaways, in: Erin Henderson & Matt Forte (both in their 30's when we signed them) Steve McLendon, Jeremy Ross, Bruce Carter, Jarvis Jenkins, CJ Spiller, Stevan Ridley, Zac Stacy, Austin Seferian-Jenkins, Cromartie, etc. They're a group of the land of misfit toys, players that other teams didn't want. His two drafts have been just as poor. Hackenberg couldn't get on the field as a 4th stringer.. who's owner didn't even refute the ocean comment. Devin Smith, Lorenzo Mauldin, Bryce Petty, Leo Williams FELL to the Jets, so I'm not going to stand up and cheer for the guy for that.

Honestly.. stand back and look at the whole body of work. What the fvck has he done these last two years?? So let Woody put a gun to his head and have him put the latte down, roll up his sleeves, pick of the phone and fix this sh!t. Because I have no problem getting rid of the both of these two clowns after this season, if the same sh!t product returns to the field.
