They cant sustain this high a shooting percentage. Right? Can they? Someone please tell me it has to end soon.... :blink:Half their team is shooting over 20% it feels like.... including Dan fvcking Girardi. Vesey is near 25%. Hayes 30%. Grabner is over 30%.

It CANT be sustainable, but I am starting to get worried lol.

Don't read too much into Girardi.  He hardly ever shoots.  Well, hardly ever gets it on net.  He only has 14 shots, less than 1 per game.  Last year, he had 77 in 74 games.  So, his shooting pct isn't going to help them much.  Even now his pace is 14 goals.  Do I think he will get it, no.  But, even if he does, not going to make THAT much of a difference.  Vesey had a very hot few games, but off the top of my head has only scored twice in the last 6 or so.  So, his is coming down.  Hayes, is just out of his mind right now.  He dropped 20 pounds this off-season and clearly looks faster, so who knows.  But no, do not expect 30%.  Grabner?  With him it feels like he only shoots when he is on an odd-man rush, but seems to be getting a lot of those due to his speed.  Reality is no, they are not sustainable.  BUT, if you do want to know where you should worry is a few have shooting pct below their career averages.  Stepan is at 6.5%, but his career average is just over 11%.  Zibanejad is at 7% and his career avg is 10.6.  Kreider is 8.6 with a career avg of 12.1. McDonagh is 0, and a career average of 6.5.  Most importantly, Lundqvist has found his game after a rough October.  They have only given up 3 goals or more 6 times so far, and 3 of those were the first 3 games of the season.  In the last 14, the opponent has scored 2 or less in 11 games.

Edit:  Saw this on I believe the Rangers facebook page last night:  In his last nine starts, Henrik has posted an 8-1-0 record, along with a 1.89 GAA, a .936 SV%, and 1 SO.

From Puckdaddy, it sounds like approximately 4+ months for Stamkos...

"Steven Stamkos is heading to Vail, CO., today and expected to undergo arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear. While TB lists Stamkos as out indefinitely, it’s believed best-case recovery timeline for this procedure is four months, possibly longer. Stamkos’s procedure, which can have 4 to 6 month rehab, will be performed by knee specialist Dr. Robert LaPrade. Precise recovery time TBD."

Id love to see a suspension.  unacceptable behavior.

Saw the video and don't really have much sympathy for the fan.  Seems like one of the entitled "I can do and say whatever I want without facing any consequences" crowd.

To that fans credit he said he doesn't want anything other then for them to pay for a new phone. I think that's fair. Still a funny moment to me lol

Crazy about Gallant. Fox Sports Florida even interviewed him after the game. Wonder how that works, with a phone call? Was their GM on site?

Unrelated, congrats to the Flyer goalie tonight. Anthony Stolarz, born in Edison, grew up in Jackson, a Devil/Marty fan. First NHL game/win. Too bad I can't root for him, unless we need them to beat pens or rags or any other team we're fighting a spot for.

From a Canes fan on HF who was outside the arena last night:

Quote

By the time Gallant came out 10 or 15 minutes later, the whole crowd at the security gate knew what had happened. He had to come all the way out of the secure area into the public parking lot, with half a dozen arena employees helping him carry his bags to a taxi which was very conspicuously parked right in front of everyone.

The point being, what you don't see in those photos is the crowd of fans 50 feet away who were ALL taking pictures and video while Gallant awkwardly waited for the cab to get loaded. The worst part (and I considered not mentioning this, as it really doesn't reflect well on our fanbase) was one guy singing the "Hey Hey Goodbye" song in Gallant's direction.

Rangers have now scored just 13 goals in their last 6 games.  Was only a matter of time before they were going to slow up.  No team in the NHL averages 4 goals per game anymore.  Top offensive teams might reach 3.3 or so.

I like to hear that about Stolarz even though he's a Flyer. The rec team I played for as a kid (Cranford) had a lot of dudes from Edison on it. Not many high schools in my area had hockey teams so rec hockey was the only option. I'm sure NJ's youth hockey program has become a lot bigger since 1990 but back then there weren't a lot of options if you wanted to play hockey so we'd get people from all over the area (Westfield, Scotch Plains, Edison, Irvington, Cranford itself). It was really cool but it pissed people off when I would wear a Cranford Hockey Club jacket at my high school, Westfield who were rivals with Cranford.

Well, I've certainly had employees that I secretly would have loved to have done that too but that's not the way you do business, especially with something a public as a hockey franchise.

I have a feeling that the new management down there is going to keep that franchise muddling along forever and prevent them from ever turning into something special.  Tallon really seemed to have things going in the right direction at the end of last year and you can't ask for an better young cornerstones than Barkov/Ekblad to build around.  They started the offseason well signing those two to nice long term contracts and then made a bizarre decision to either trade or commit long term to seemingly ever other player on the roster.  I can kind of understand a long term deal for Bjugstad already but why the hurry to make such big commitments to guys like Trochek, Smith, Huberdeau and Justin Riemer?   They are pretty much going to sink or swim with a core group that hasn't even shown they can win a playoff series yet.

Continued reports are that Dougie Hamilton is on the block in Calgary. I don't get that. I don't think there is a match with NJ on him but i don't get the hate on him. he's not calgary's problem lately.

I don't know for certain.  Could be a case of they know they are not going to win with him, so get something of value now?  If you want to call Hamilton a B-dman (as compared to someone like Doughty or Weber being A's).  Maybe they think they'd be better off with another young d-man who right now is a C and a young forward who is right now a C?

Boomer and Carton is the worst show in the history of radio. I'd rather listen to a loop of James Taylor's greatest hits for a month straight than listen to those two dipsh!ts.

Ha. Yea I can't stand James Taylor either.

And what was the point of that? Boomer is a Rag fan and hates the Isles. How is that fair to their fan base? I mean Rangers fans were up in arms when Doc wore his Cup ring during the 2012 ECF.
