2017 JETS

I think one has to come to the conclusion that the Jets are a relatively good team.

At the very least, they're going to give their opponents a real fight.  Pats lucky that this is tied up at the half.

Ehhhh no.  Not after that meltdown at the end of the first half.  Instead of it being 14-7 or 17-7 it's now tied because Robby Anderson slipped on a route and someone got beat over the top from midfleld with less than half a minute remaining.  That was an old fashioned SOJ finish to the half.

And how about this GREAT defensive line coming to play?  Mo, hello?  Overrated Leonard Williams, hello?  Still zero sacks and counting.  Kony Ealy off the street has been their best d-lineman.  The rest of this D is dog****

MetLife sounds like frigging Foxboro.  It's like Cleveland during the World Series when all the Cubs fans came to invade in Game 7.

Try rooting for the Dolphins.  (I'm still not watching, by the way, just keeping track via fantasy).

The Dolphins may bungle their way into a QB at least

At this point I'd be for Alex Smith or Kirk Cousins IF this D was actually any good but they haven't lived up to billing at all.

They won't be that bad.  They only need to win three more games to be out of the running for Rosen or Darnold.   If the Colts get that pick and idiotically want to move on from Luck, I'd trade my whole draft for him and a first rounder the following year.

Welp that was exactly the start to the third quarter I expected - outcoached and overmatched, just like the Raider game again....looking good was fun while it lasted.

And not that anyone really was criticizing the pick for a variety of reasons but it's a little galling seeing Jamal Adams get clownshowed by Gronk while Deshaun Watson looks like a star in the making.

So how much money exactly did these officials get to be in the Pats' pockets?  That 'cough' fumble and touchback was a completely nonexistent call.  This is like the Remember the Titans refs in that playoff game

How exactly is it a fumble when the ball never hit the ground?  Disgusting.  This should be a FG game now.

It's never over with Puppet's defense.

Well congrats refs, you gave the 'home' fans what they wanted.  This game should have gone into OT at least.

And yeah I know you can't literally extrapolate the same things would have happened if the TD's on the board but they did stop the Pats twice trying to run out the clock and did score a FG on the next drive.  Not to mention that helmet to helmet on Robby Anderson that wasn't called earlier in the game.  Somewhere Jon Gruden's sighing knowing he's seen this script before.

And earth to Todd, it's okay to actually ONCE IN A FREAKING BLUE MOON show some emotion over a bad call.  Let the team know you have their back, let the league know you aren't going to take this junk lying down.  But his presser after the game was just typical Dry Todd.

The Jets got robbed. That's one of the absolute worst calls I've ever seen in 32 years of watching the NFL.

Yeah, can't blame Jets fans for being furious about this one.  Even if the call was somehow correct (the explanation is that he was just going out of bounds right when the ball was loose), there just wasn't anything conclusive enough there to overturn the call on the field.

It was a bad call. It was far from the worst call in NFL history. Jets fans (me included) are very woe is me. It bothers me but you can't put this in the same category as Rob Lytle or Sugar Bear Hamilton or Mike Renfro or the Music City Miracle. I'm happy with the way they played. They're not a good team but are really getting the most they can out of what they have. A call like that you just have no control over. The Jets can't get down or lose focus, just keep going out there and play hard and stop saying the NFL owes us anything

The explanation was a huge reach. There really is no possible way to defend this. If the league is smart they'll just fess up and admit they made a mistake which I hope they do. Don't dig the hole deeper by trying to explain and explain.

It's typical Goddell NFL '7'.  "No no no you're not smart enough to understand what you were looking at, WE are."  At the very least, at this point, just dump that rule.  The on-field ruling should've stood.

Goodell right now is a hot mess with all the other things going on and now this is dumped in his lap. Of course he'll bungle it too. The NHL was just as foolishly stubborn with the crease rule (drove me nuts in 1997 with the Rags. What was that 4 disallowed goals?) this was a league that had a magic touch at one point...doesn't seem that way anymore.

I get the idea that with this, the protests, the boycotts on both sides, the Rams/Chargers attendance disasters...things may be pretty tense among the 32 owners in their ivory towers. Plus the ongoing CTE black cloud.
