finally caught a full Devils game. I thought that 3rd goal was a ball buster. We had the momentum. Zero backcheck and Schneider flat out should have had it. The bright spot was Hallsy brought it tonight, get them next time.

Going forward we looked solid again. Some nice chances. But at the other end.....

I really have no idea what Shero ever saw in Prout to think that a trade for him was a good idea. He doesn't seem to posses any particular skill that you could say that he is good at. He really brings nothing. There have to be better options out there.

Greene is having a very tough year so far. And we really can't afford for that to happen. But then again it's kind of inevitable. This team has Ridden Andy for the last 5 years in terms of eating big minutes and games. He hasn't really had the support so it's going to have taken its toll.

Positive from the game was Butcher, Bratt and Nico all got on the scoresheet with a point and all made really nice plays and created some chances.

Apparently Talbot is 4-0-1 in his career against us.

Still 9-3-0 is an excellent start.

Prout was one of those "What the hell" kind of deals...a relatively young guy you hope you can turn into something more than he is, who doesn't cost you much to bring in.  Shero acknowledged when he made that deal that Prout wasn't having a good 2016-17, but liked what he saw of him in previous seasons, and was hoping Prout could find his game again with the Devils.  Unfortunately it's looking more and more like he's simply not going to work out.

And MITB said what we already knew:  defense is going to be a serious issue some nights, especially if Cory isn't consistently spectacular.  But the Devils can at least score enough to be competitive in a lot of games...it's Bizarro-land Devils hockey, seeing all of these goals being scored on both ends, but I'll take this over the teams of 2013 through last season.

Somehow, we need to work on our Neutral zone coverage or lack of it, Seems like the opposition is constantly pressuring our D-zone, Opposition forwards are getting over the blueline mostly untouched, and causing havoc and their able to set up therefore getting too many opportunities.  Teamwise were #2 shots against, Ugh

Another rough game possession wise.. our attempts to get the puck out were slow and soft... oilers had puck support everywhere..puck movement was hesitant and late.

Once they set up in our end they just 4 cornered us and played keep away..  horrible in our end.. and if our centers don't get back it's bad news as the trailers get point blank shots..  Hynes has some work to do

Prout's fine, the Devils got him to be a 7th D - his problem has been too many penalties, which has always been a problem in his career, but it's been worse here.  Remember that the Devils had no idea they were going to get Butcher and probably would've gone into the season with the same 7 D they have now.

The Devils coaching staff seems to know they're not a very good 5 on 5 team, but they're trying to get edges elsewhere - they dress two players who don't play a whole lot 5 on 5 but who do play on PP1.  That's fine to do, but if you're going to draw 1 power play in 2 games, and penalty levels are going to go back to where they were last year, it's hard to justify doing this.  Hayes got crushed last night, and he's not a very good ES player in general - it's time to bring in Noesen for him, and put Stafford on PP1 and Noesen on PP2.

lmao I actually love this MB, respect the honesty.

Definitely needed a recap from someone who didn’t watch the game. Do you do movie reviews, too?
