(N)(N)Єverson is reporting that Stevens has signed with the Ducks.....kidding although I can see him writing this.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

hahahaha, thank you for the laugh, it's probably the only one I will have today, and I needed it.

Well, this sucks. But in my heart of hearts, I knew this was gonna happen. But Anaheim? Damn. That fact is what makes this even harder to swallow. Earlier this week I was holding out hope that Scott would go to VAN and then praying today for at least SJ--two western teams I like to watch...and really enjoy their style of play. But the real sh!tty thing is the delays with this decision...stringing us along to the point where the D-man talent pool has completely dried up. Hamrlik? Nah. I'll pass.

But I guess Anaheim makes sense--especially after the dad talked about having Scott play with his brother. That sealed it, I guess.

Funny thing though--think about Scott and Rob for a minute. Scott has prolly had to do this sorta thing all his life...bail out his little bro. Do what mommy and daddy want him to do in order to help out the less fortunate little Robbie. "Makes sure you watch out for Robbie!" "Make sure you include Robbie!" And think about Rob for a minute--living your entire life in the shadow of your extremely more talented older brother--who wins all the championships, all the trophies,...and now you are financially indebted to him for the rest of your life--tailgating on big brother's uber free agent contract sigining by getting one of your own only via a family-plan package deal.

Anyone up for throwing together a collection to pay off a sportswriter to ask Rob a question at the press conference today..."So Rob, how does it feel to be set for life--thanks only to your big brother's God-given skills and ability? How will you ever possibly be able to repay him? Feel at all embarrassed? Clearly you are here today only by blood? Or are you just used to Scott being the center of attention? Need a tissue dude?"

I would like to know what Rob would have gotten if not for Scott.  $2mm??  I'm not so sure.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Yeah, if you consider the overpayment to Rob, Anaheim really did offer Scott the max.

Brylin has three rings, White, Gomer, Madden, Pando, Langs, Matvichuk all have a couple rings each-- its not like these young players don't have what it takes to be winners. We are very competitive. In addition we still have the world greatest goalie in nets for when it counts.

We are still a playoff team with or without Nieds.

Our forwards are pretty solid in terms of depth, scoring and penalty killing.

Defense is key====as always

What pisses me of most about this is how he dragged it out. Making it more difficult for Lou to move on. It is too bad we don't play the Pacific Division this year. I'd love to give him the John Rocker treatment.

ok, rob doesn't really suck or anything....i mean he's a really good shutdown guy, and his injury is a top reason why the ducks sucked so much this year.

he's a pretty good forward and the 2 mil is fair for him...

kenrock is hearing me! the Niedermayers are one messed up clan i think... weird - it's lik ethey dont quite understand what it means to be a close family -- so much emotional blackmail seems to be flying around... I mean it's in all families -- but this is hitting the press with bitter mom spouting off at the Cup finals and -- I feel bad for all of them just because you get heart sick enough in a normal close knit family... and this one did go through a divorce too... I mean... yeeesh. i hate pondering it... I'd much rather think about the Stevens family.. it just makes so much more sense to me...

umm... I should say how I imagine these respective families being :P

Must be nice to know the only reason your making the amount of money you're getting is because of your brother and not because of your own talents.

How cute, he wants to pway with his wittle bwrother.

Rob better give Scott a reallly nice birthday gift, because Scott just gave his journeyman, first round draft pick bust of a brother an extended career.

the way you guys are just bashing rob is really twisted, i understand your bitter about scott leaving, but don't make rob seem like some suckass player. He's rather good. Obviously not of niedermayer talent, but he's still one hell of a player.

HE DESERVED ON HIS OWN MERITS the 2 million.

Wow. This sucks. So I guess he really wanted to play with Rob. I can't be mad at him for that.

He's done a lot for the Devils and I'm glad to have been able to watch him. It's sad to see him go.

Hi, my name is Scott Neidermayer. I wanted to write to all of my fans because I just can't wait for the season to start. You see, I finally get to play with my brother. Yeah. :) I can't tell you how long I've waited for that. We can now share a room together, carpool together, tell each other funny jokes and share Nintendo (but we definitely won't share our underwear...that's where I draw the line! Ha ha!). Just think of all of lasting memories we'll be able to make as a family. My crazy mother FINALLY won't have to share her rooting interests as we are now on the SAME TEAM. Yeah!! :) It's going to be so great. But you know what the second best part of it is? When we get to play Vancouver we can go back to our hometown and hang out with the fellas during from the good ol' days our off days. We can also have dinner at home with our parents and watch old Super 8 films of when we grew up. Maybe I'll even sleep in my old bed. You know. The old wooden sportscar bed that still has my stuffed animals in it. Oh, some of you are probably wondering why I strung the Devils along. Sure they drafted me. Sure they made me team captain. Sure I had the best goalie in the league. Sure I won the Norris trophy there. Sure we won three Stanley Cups there. But you know what, Lou was mean to me. So that's why I left. Now I get to play on the Migthy Ducks! Yeah. It has Mighty right in the name so you know it's a good team. Maybe I'll ask them if they can change the team name to the Mighty Mighty Ducks...then we just might never lose. :) Again, I can't wait for the season to start. I'll be sure to keep posting to let you guys know all of the crazy conversations me and my brother have this year. In fact, I just left a voice mail on his phone today. I said, "Tag, you're it." It's going to be so great.

This is not a contending team but a playoff team (lower half). As I stated in another thread, here's the time to reload quickly. And that is not by throwing money on long term deals just because others have. Don't trade for anyone now, unless it is for a blue chip prospect which probably won't be available.

While I will miss 27, I am relieved that we won't have the max tied up in him. As spectacular and game changing as he could be, we all have to admit he sometimes melted into the background. Not what you want out of your max long term contract.

Lou has picked this team up before, I have faith that he will again. I just do worry about our ability to sign a big name FA if we have the opportunity next year.

I look forward to seeing some of the "kids" grow.

Gosh Ghost,

I seem to remember hearing the same panic ridden nonsense, when we lost Mogilny, Arnott, Sykora and espeically when we lost Holik.
