Al12
A blogger at http://nhltraderumours.com Kevin Gibson, who covers NHL hockey for am 640 toronto the radio station (formerly Mojo Radio), wrote in to the site that the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Coyotes to land Curtis Joseph, and that it is all but done. Maybe CuJO will be inspired to play a little better, back in Edmonton?
thefiestygoat
Note: The Olympic trade freeze lifts tonight at 12:00 am. I guess we will find out then if it is true or not. I wonder if we will see any trades go through right after the freeze ends or if everything will happen on deadline day.

Devil Fan
Um....TheCoyotes are loaded up in forwards. Boucher is already gone, so the Dogs are going to receive a netminder and a defenseman (Staios???).

bruins4777
the thing is cujo makes a lot of big saves, but his team's defense has gotten progressively worse ever since they peaked at the no.6 position. so while cujo could play better it seems like the team hasn't played well around him...but i think the main reason he's declined in the past 15 or so games is due to the fact that other teams have figured out his weakness....one timers. Derek21
The last time Edmonton made the second round, it was because of Cujo.
LOTCB
The last time Edmonton made the second round, it was because of Cujo. That was so long ago, Michael Gro$ek was actually considered a potential 30 goal sniper during that time.

Cujoke must carry some diesease as it seems EVERY TEAM he plays for gets "progressively worse" defensively. Cujo's weakness is when he can actually SEE the shot, otherwise he acccidently falls into it.

Please name any Norris nominated defenders for any team that Cujo has ever played for. Please name any Selke nominated forwards for any team that Cujo has ever played for. Please name any #1 defenders for any team that Cujo has ever played for. Whatever, we have this argument about Pronger, Leetch, Cujo, and just about everyone in the NHL it seems. MantaRay
Defensemen: Al Macinnis Selke: Guy Carbonneau Hall of Famers/Potential Hall of Famers: Brett Hull Brendan Shanahan Esa Tikanen Glen Anderson Alexi Kasatonov Phil Housley Peter Stasny Doug Weight Miroslav Satan Mat Sundin While you can make up as many excuses as you want as to why he a losing record in the playoffs, its not like he wasn't surrounded by talent. Triumph
He played with MacInnis and Carbonneau for one year - the strike shortened year. Come on - Esa Tikannen and Glenn Anderson? These guys were terrible when Cujo played with them. Same with Statsny and Satan. No one in their right mind blames Cujo for any of Edmonton, St. Louis or Toronto's losses. Those teams were not very good - they were built largely through mediocre trades, mediocre free-agent signings, and random chance basically. Do you know that those three teams have one thing in common? They never built right through the draft - all three have awful drafting records 5 years before Cujo began playing for them. MantaRay
So its not his lack of ability as a goaltender, but its Cujo's ability to weaken his teams defense and his uncanny knack of making a teams scouting corps below standard that makes him a great goalie. Good argument. Come on - Esa Tikannen and Glenn Anderson? These guys were terrible when Cujo played with them. Yes, coming off a Stanley Cup victory in New York really curtailed their talents in the next year.

I don't know why I keep at this but, it's not Cujo's fault that he ended up on teams where there wasn't a solid defensive scheme in place. I'm not going to debate Anderson and Tikannen - none of those teams were any good. Can you even name their defenses off hand? Can you think of 2 good defensemen on any teams Cujo has played on, except the Red Wings? Fact is, Cujo was in the 2nd round for several years in a row - that's a hell of a record when you look at those rosters. No one can take that away from him. If Edmonton gets him, they will be better off than with the clowns they have in net now.

Yeah and if you took Cujo off the Maple Leafs and put the World Champion Red Wings defense in front of him they would win the Stanley Cup for the next decade....oh yeah that didn't work out too well. So much for hypotheticals.

Again, you are just not on par here. Cujo played well enough against Anaheim but his team didn't score enough goals. You being a Devil fan and taking this sort of stance is mind boggling because we've seen the same thing happen to Brodeur where he's victimized by his team's lack of offense in a first round exit ('97-Rangers, '98 Ottawa, '99 Penguins, '02 Carolina, '04 Flyers). When your team doesn't score enough goals, it doesn't matter how well you played in net.

No, he sucked against Anaheim. The numbers look pretty but the goals he gave up were soft, soft, SOFT. He was excellent against Calgary in the '04 series. Your like a broken record with your endless excuses for mediocrity. The bottomline is that Cujo always plays well enough, just not well enough to win. He must be the most unluckiest goalie in the world that he always happens to play against teams with a better goalie in each playoff series. As a Devil fan, I know that Defense and Goaltending win championships. Cujo will never be a champion because as we have already established that he doesn't play "well enough" when it counts.
