East

Ottawa in 6

Montreal in 7

Buffalo in 6 (If Forsberg is close to 100% this outcome could change)

West

Detroit in 5

Dallas in 7

Nashville in 6

Calgary in 6

Finally

This series has all the makings of an easy one for the Devils 2 teams going in total opposite directions. I really hope the Devils do not look at it that way and come out like they did in the first and second period against Montreal. My point is this the Devils are superior, and should win in 5. JUst want to not give the Rangers even a breath of life in this series!!!!!

Ottawa over Tampa in 5

Carolina over Montreal in 5

Devils over the Rag$ in 6

Philly over Buffalo in 7

West

Detroit over Edmonton in 5

Dallas over Colorado in 6

Anahiem over Calgary in 7

San Jose over Nashville in 7 (Mason is better than people think he is, but San Jose is just a better team.)

Dallas is my Cup pick, but that makes me nervous because rarely do all four top seeds advance out of the first round. And if one of them was shakey, I'd say Dallas is -- though who knows if Tampa will find its stride against Ottawa.

I actually picked all 4 top seeds in both conferences as well, which means I'm garanteed at least one wrong.

If you read my column at SFM, you'll find that I say...

Sens in 5

Canes in 6

Devils in 6

Sabres in 6

Red Wings in 5

Stars in 5

Flames in 7

Sharks in 6

Wow -- you guys... I can only take it game by game... I ind of hate it -- what I find is whatever I think "I just can't imagine THAT happeneing" generally is the things that comes to pass. I think 2000 totally wigged me out because that was the only thing where I was freakishly calm and sure of the Devils --I HATE that feeling like it's a given... bugs the heck out of me. BUT STILL in keeping with my feeling I never thought they'd get 2000 done in 6 - there was still that feeling of marvel - that whole "they really did it" feeling... 2001 I was thinking how can this NOT happen -- this is NOT happeneing it's just not -- I can't imagine them NOT taking this but it's NOT HAPPENING RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!!! THE worst feeling.... 2002 -- I knew they'd bite it but again I just couldn't grasp it was happening right there and then in front of my face... and 2003 -- the ENTIRE thing was just like a blur of holey moley!

ANYHOW -- my whole point was that I have no idea what's going to happen here - ANYTHING can happen and I'm not sure what I think at the moment -- as always - It's anyone's Cup

(Man I should take a cue from Scott Stevens and cut back on the extemporaniousness.)

I'm not going to make any predictions as I don't want to ruin it. As someone said above me; I want to take this game by game. I'm really hoping the Devils come out against the Rangers hard, strong and fast. Beat them down and shut down Jagr.

Game by Game from me.

Eastern Conference:

Ottawa over Tampa Bay in 5: Ottawa's uncertainity on the nets might ultimately be their undoing, but it won't matter in this series.

Carolina over Montreal in 7: Montreal will give the Canes all they can handle, but will just fall a little short. I so want to pick the Habs here, but I just so not trust them.

New Jersey over NY Rangers in 7: Personally I believe if the Rags want any chance in this series, they must get Game 1, NY will test NJ, because these 2 teams play intense games, Rangers will bring their A games, but ultimately too much Brodeur and too much Gionta. Beating the Rangers for the Devils fan is almost like an ice cream sundae, the sundae has been scrumptous (3 Cups) but the cherry on top would be to beat the Rangers in the playoffs. Would just make it all complete.

Buffalo over Philadelphia in 7: Buffalo might be the quitest 110 point team in NHL playoff hockey histroy. Sabres finished strong by winning 8 of 11 and Ryan Miller seems to have his confidence back. Key to this series will be the Sabres ability to create PP chances and captialize. I just cannot pick against my team, at least not against the Cryers :D

Western Conference:

Detroit over Edmonton in 6: Oilers will be tough, but I do not trust Roloson right now, Wings will just have a little too much firepower.

Stars over Avs in 5: Stars are primed for a run. Turco will be the difference.

Flames over Ducks in 6: Simply cannot pick against Kipp right now...Ducks could steal this series, but Giggy will have to be brilliant to make that a possibility.

Sharks over Preds in 6: Too bad Vokoun is hurt, otherwise this could have been the best series of the 1st round. Thornton and Cheech are on such a roll right now, and have been for so long, cannot see that run stopping now, at least against Chris Mason.

If the Devils don't win the Cup, I wouldn't mind see the Sharks win. About time a California team won, don't you think? Though I would be torn if it was a Sabres/Sharks final. I do think your Sabres, Clown, have an excellent chance of going all the way (of course I'm hoping my Devils have something to say about it. )
