BEER

1,164 posts in this topic

Maybe in 1993, its 18.20 for a case of 6pks. You show me the place selling bud or miller or coors for 3 or 4 dollars and ill show you a place the ABC can go into and fine whatever they want. You can't sell beer below cost its illegal. Those beers go for around 6 dollars a 6pk. So no you cant buy 3 6pks of normal beer for the price of 1 craft 6.

I'm not sure where yous are getting the idea that people don't care about taste. I have a lot of people who drink the main brands try crafts, and most of them say they suck. People aren't going to drink things that taste like garbage on a nightly basis just to get drunk. I'm talking about grown adults not some kids pooling there money together to get a 30 pk of busch. Yes, yous two don't like normal beer, but yous are in the vast minority. That's not my opinion its a fact. Plain and simple. So we can sit here for another 2 weeks and argue about our difference in taste buds, but the simple fact is AB and MillerCoors make delicious beer for the masses.

Yuengling is currently going for about $5.50 for a six pack at a couple liquor stores near my in hillsborough, so what makes you think bud or coors is going to be $6? For a guy in the liquor business you are either ripping off your customers or some other shenanigans is going on.

Also your last line just lost all whatever credibility you have. Obviously the swill is good enough for you and that is fine, but to say that the craft beer growth is slowing down or overhyped is just comical. Of course people who drink the main brands are going to say craft beer sucks. If you eat McDonald's all your life then eat the food at Per Se they would probably ask where the burgers are on the menu. It's what they are used to after advertising and convenience and cost have shoved down their throats.

Oh im sorry i forgot you work in the business so your input is on par or much better than mine. And i also noticed that youre mathematics are on about a 1st grade level. You're literally arguing with me as if you know how much thing should be priced yet you have ZERO knowledge of the business. Do me a favor buddy get your calculator out......Got it out? Okay now do 18.20 divided by 4. What'd you come up with professor? Okay now since you're "in the know" when it comes to the alcohol business, take that number you got and mark it up the standard amount for beer. Whatd you come up with? Now i'd like for you to admit you're wrong for the first time ever on this forum. I like craft beer, but it is overhyped because theres a tiny demographic of people who buy the stuff and theres a good reason behind that. Its kids 21-30 with disposable income who can blow 12 bucks on a beer theyve never had before in the off chance they might like it. But you already knew this because thats your line of work that you deal with 10 hours a day correct? You are literally the worst, most onesided, judgemental human being on this forum. Its like talking to a dead goldfish trying to have a conversation with you about anything

Lol how was the draft party you cried about in that epic whining thread you made?

Enjoy the Ferris wheel outside?

For someone in the business you spew a lot of crap and just came on a craft beer thread to troll us. Every single post in this entire forum from you is an obvious attempt at trolling including that draft party tear feat you put on last month. Grab a tissue since you can't take criticism like a man.

There is also a large portion of drinkers out there who only drink beer as well as other alocoholic drinks simply to get drunk.  While the mass-produced garbage usually has lower alcohol content, you can usually buy about 3 six-packs for the price of 1 six-pack of craft beer.  Craft beer is also something that is usually not pounded like the crap beers are and when people have party or buying beers for other, they usually head towards the cheapest stuff so they can get the most amount.

There are large portion of people who buy the mass-produced beer because of price, but these people usually couldn't care less about taste than to either get drunk or just get something to keep their friends happy and drunk as well.

If I'm drinking to get drunk, I'll sometimes drink crap. You can drink it faster than a lot of the craft beers I love, and there are times when I'm less concerned about taste. Admittedly, I've started drinking Yuengling instead most of the time -- great taste, but really easy to drink fast on a hot day, and not too expensive.

AHHHHH i thought you might do it but you're keeping the streak going of being a stubborn piece of garbage. Im sorry i created a thread reguarding how the draft was handled. How silly of me. Idk what trolling means honey so you'll have to fill me on with the online forum lingo. Its so adorable you're preaching about taking critisizm well too.

But hey you know that topic we were just talking about? The one you just left out a response to because you were made to look like a fool? Did u get your calculator out buddy? Whatd you come up with? How much should i be charging? You accused me of screwing my customers or some "shenanegan" are going on. So tell me sweetheart how much should these 6pks be? Earlier you said 3 or 4 dollars for one even after i told you a case price. So for every case i sell i should lose between $2.20 and $6.20. You're so knowledgeable about beer!! And business too. And you STILL wont admit your clueless about this one particular topic of how much a six pack costs lol something as simple as that and your overwhelming stubborness prevents you from admitting for once you're wrong. You're adorable.

Aside from the contradiction of saying something is overhyped, then saying only a small demographic consumes it, I think you're grossly overgeneralizing craft beer drinkers. I've been to a decent amount of events. The people there are diverse, especially in terms of age. What they have in common is a sincere appreciation for taste. Drinkers of the Big 3, on the other hand, drink those beers for lots of reasons. Some drink what they're used to. Some drink because of the commercials. Some drink what they can afford (when I was in college, craft beers were a treat). Some don't like a ton of flavor in beer. The big 3 taste kind of watery. If you prefer the taste of water to a strong beer, you're not going to want craft beer. I would argue that that means you are less about beer taste/enjoy beer less, but at some point we're arguing about wording.

My point is, craft beers are more flavorful and higher quality. If you truly enjoy the taste of beer (and don't just want something refreshing and alcoholic), there is no way you can claim the big 3 are better than craft beers. I acknowledge the big 3 serve a purpose, and that different people will make different beer choices, but your line of argument is deeply flawed, not to mention annoying, since this thread was created for people who enjoy craft beer to discuss it.

Finally, while many craft beer drinkers I know will spring money on a new 6 pack, there are plenty of people who have 1 or 2 craft beers they swear by. A ton of people, for example, swear by Sam or Yuengling (larger craft breweries, but certainly considerably smaller than the big 3).

I'm not really into cider that much.  I don't dislike it, but it seems extremely one-dimensional compared to craft beer.

I recently got a six pack of Bear Republic's Red Rocket Ale, that stuff is really good, it's a pretty hoppy red ale.  Lately I've been buying beers that I've always seen in stores but for some reason always passed over.

I love cider. There are a bunch of people doing interesting stuff with it now. There's a lot of variety of apples, plus people are adding different kinds of fruit/spices. It's a lot different from beer, but the good cider people are doing some exciting stuff.

Also, I'm definitely a fan of Bear Republic. Racer 5 is one of my staples.

Lol I have admitted when I am wrong many times on this forum. However since you have been on here half of your posts are either attempts at trolling (such as you saying craft beer is overhyped and then tastes lkke garbage and becoming less popular thus contradicting yourself) or complete tear fests like your little draft thread and were laughed off the forum for a bit.

As for not addressing your little math portion, how do I know where you are getting that case price and not just pulling it out of your ass? In that case did you know that in real like I work as an astronaut for NASA and in my spare time I fight crime? It's very easy to bullsh!t when you are hiding behind an avatar on a forum so how do I know you are not just putting out a random number just to try to prove yourself correct?

You have been caught both trolling and crying many times on the forum in your year on here. I see you are still keeping up at your usual brisk pace.

Thank you.

He literally made his post about how craft beer sucks and is overhyped just for the sole purpose of trolling. I don't know why I keep feeding him but between this and his constant whining in the Hell section I've had enough of him getting away without getting called out.

Remember this is the guy who posted that 85% of this board are children all because his wittle feelings were hurt that he didn't win the draft ticket lottery and people asked him how the devils could have handled it better. He hates most of this board but keeps coming back.

Nothin gets you drunk like a 4 pack of Firestone Double Jack ;)

Love their Union Jack IPA.  Edison Ale House had that on tap for quite a while this past season and always ordered it when I was there.

Today is actually "National IPA Day" apparently.  I don't know who made that up but I'm game.  Need to head over to the store after work to stock up for the celebration.

Yeah I remember hearing someone mention that at work the other day.  I might have to stop by a bar tonight to celebrate as well lol.

Of course the people who are used to BMC don't like craft beers when they first try them, it's obviously vastly different from what they're used to.  I didn't like the first few craft beers I had either.  If craft beer tastes like garbage then why is it growing so rapidly despite having an advertising budget of approximately zero?  I wouldn't call BMC beers "normal."  To me, a normal beer is made with quality in mind, and BMC's first priority is to cut corners, that's why they use cheaper ingredients like corn and rice instead of barley, and have almost no hops.  I don't know how you can call their beers delicious considering there is almost nothing to them other than water, unless you have a vested interest in promoting their products.

Devsman you STILLLLL wont admit you're wrong!!!!!! Yes im making up numbers cutie. In fact i dont work in the alcohol business. I decided to makd up a lie to impress you babe. You're the whiniest one on here yet you try and hide it by calling others whiny. The only knowledge you have on the subject is that you buy a six pack once in a while, while i deal with it 10 hours a day 6 days a week. Its literally like talking to a dead goldfish. Actually no the goldfish would have more insight.

So whatd you come up with for your little equation? 18.20 divided by 4 and then mark it up 30%. What should i be charging? And you still didnt tell me the stores with 6pks for 3 dollars. Way to beat around the bush hun. So answer those 2 questions for me please. What i should charge and where i can get some 6pks for 3 bucks. What an absolute moron.

Oh and btw tell me where you get your hockey jerseys, because according to you on every forum even the players dont wear real jerseys, you and only you have real hockey jerseys. You're so cute sweety.

Haha you just don't get it.  I don't know where you get me saying players don't wear real jerseys but since you are delusional about so many things I do not expect anything else.

Let's say you are 100% correct in that the mass-produced crap beer is $6 a six-pack.  Hell let's make it $7 so you can "win" but like you accusing me of deflecting from your numbers game, you have yet to address mine and others pointing out the fact that you say craft beer is overhyped yet very few people consume it.  Then explain why more and more bars are putting them on tap and why there is considerable growth per market share of craft beer?

BTW you once stated you worked at a liquor store in Hazlet.  It if it is Union Plaza Liquors then that would explain a whole lot.

He comes on a craft beer thread talking about how craft beer is overhyped and that mass produced beer is better and expects us to all go along with that?  It's total troll-baiting beahvior just like LD's posts about Brodeur in the Hell section.

Shame on me for keep feeding him but his nonsense on this thread as well as his complete whine-fests in the Hell section are sometimes just too much.  For a guy who thinks 85% of this forum is children and how terrible we are, he seems to still want to post here.

Okay fair enough but if i can just respond just one more time since he actually responded to my actual question finally. Craft beer is overhyped in my opinion because there's just as much crap as there is good. I love trying them, but just because i like buying them doesn't mean i'm always satisfied. Yeah it can keep growing, but when you start from nothing of course it's going to grow. Yeah if you go to a place like Maloney's (or an online beer forum) you're going to find people willing to spend $12 for a beer at the bar that may or may not be good. But MOST drinkers don't like the stuff and there's a reason for that. That's why I personally say that craft beer isn't all its made out to be.

Redd's(even though its not a cider), is doing awesome everywhere and they're coming out with a strawberry in the middle of this month. I'm not big on strawberry but their apple was really good so this stuff shouldn't be that terrible either.

Of course Redd's is doing well, it has the vast advantage of MillerCoors' budget, marketplace clout, and distribution network!  Everyone has their own tastes and all, but I am seriously confounded by your assertion that there are as many craft beers that are worse than BMC than there are better.

Also last time I was at Maloney's I don't remember any beer costing $12, you are just making things up now.  The reason most drinkers don't drink craft beer isn't because it's bad like you keep implying, it's because most drinkers haven't tried it yet since people tend to stick with what they're used to and brands that they have heard of rather than trying something new.

I'd rather take my chances on something that may satisfy me (craft beer) than something that never will (mass-produced swill).

Do you guys get Peroni in the States? Really nice, refreshing Italian lager. Quite expensive in the shops but worth it, especially in big 660ml bottles. You can also get it in Rome in little 'coke cans' on the side of the roads which is cool.

We do and I have had it only once really.  I tend to forget about it but I did find it to be like you said a nice, refreshing lager.  Just wish it wasn't owned by SABMiller lol.
