Close Gitmo then bring the terrorists to ft. levenworth to face trial on US soil = bad idea.

If the detainees trials are held in the US court system who is going to testify against them? All the soldiers who detained them (not arrested) are out of the military for years now, and if they are still in the military they are not police officers, they aren't trained to testify like a police officer is. All of the detainees will be let free.

If you detain a prisoner of war they must go through military tribunal. If you arrest a criminal they go through the us criminal courts. See how this has worked for years?

Now our president wants to change the rules to appease terrorists and people who are so anti-war they can't even use common sense. Terrorists involved in 9-11 are held in Gitmo, now lets let them go, they are people too right? They deserve a second chance at life. But 9-11 was a ufo explosion right?

You super libs should be ashamed of yourselves.

But they aren't prisoners of war. Bush made that very clear. If they were prisoners of war than we couldn't torture them. Since we did they are not prisoners of war. If you are going to detain someone for an in determinant amount of time you had damn well better have enough evidence to prove their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Oh stop it.

Three people were waterboarded, and that's not torture. Maybe underwear on the head is torture, if it's your's maybe.

You don't need "enough evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt" to hold a detainee, in fact you don't even need probable cause. This war is still going on, therefore we need to hold onto them till its over.

It is clear you have no clue about anything involving Geneva Conventions or even criminal law, let me remind you we are still at war. You know that right? You know what these people in Gitmo did? Or rather just not think about it. I'm sorry but a doctor shoving his finger up a detainees ass doesn't constitute torture when anyone one of those terrorists would chop your american head off if they had the chance. But yet you still want to give them a nice liberal hug. You should be ashamed of yourself that you support the people killing our soldiers. People like you need another 9-11 to remind you were at war, its sad.

You should be ashamed of yourself. This is America. We don't treat people like that. I don't care what you think they did. If you can't prove it we don't hold people with no end in sight. These are not prisoners of war. If you wanted them to be prisoners of war they should not have been tortured. "Detainee" is not a legal status. If these people have done all these awful things then proving should be a no doubt slam dunk.

We are a nation of laws again. Get used to it.

You have to excuse PeteyN.

In the past he has triumphed the causes of those that want to blow up America...............stood in solidarity with them, even said he'd rather die then see one "tortured:. Still one of the funniest things I ever read. He'd crumble like a wet bag begging for forgiveness as they went to saw off his head.

Petey also strongly advocated the execution of innocent United States Marines because he believed they murdered people in Haditha.

So there's your context when dealing with this way out loon.

You should be ashamed of yourself. This is America. We don't treat people like that.

Then why did you say our own Marines should be executed?

I thought you said the was America.
