Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond wants own identity with NJ Devils

"I don't want to be Mike Rupp's successor," Leblond said Thursday. "I want my own spot there. That's how I feel."

He is determined to claim a spot on the NHL roster by merit, not just by filling a void.

"I want to stay here and spend the season here," Leblond said. "I want to be part of the team. I know I still have to make my place. I cannot take anything for granted. I feel there is a place for me here."

Sounds like he is motivated. That's always good to hear.

This guy is fvcking awesome.

I remember reading about his intensity during the black/white scrimmage, but this is just great. With this mentality, Leblond could turn out to be quite the surprise this year.

I'd rather a guy with Leblond's attitude and determination than a guy like Madden or Gionta any day.

I'm not sure what you're talking about ... the two guys you mentioned were lunchpail players who had good careers in NJ. Geez, you'd think they were Viktor Kozlov the way you talk.

PLL is fine until the next enforcer comes along two years from now.

PL3 has the right attitude and hope he can be a lot better than Mike Rupp ever was. More of a contributor to the team than a goon. An occasional fight here and there would be great to see too.
