Miller for Brodeur Straight Up - Do It?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so Buffalo's management contacts Lou and says, "we don't like the way Miller's beard is growing in. We'd like to trade straight-up for Brodeur." Do you do it?

Great. Another thread that can turn into a stupid debate about Brodeur. Wonderful.

Someone's been playing NHL10 tonight. Cause that's the only place where it's a viable trade. There's no reason for Buffalo to get ten years older at the position and Marty deserves to retire as a Devil anyway.

Really, can we just lock this stupid thread before it turns into another pointless Marty-bashing session?

marty MADE the devils who they are. miller would KEEP them who they are.

someone is just looking to bash marty because the answer is obvious at this point in their careers. a more appropriate question is, who do you want in goal for one game? game 7 of the finals?

I'm shocked you can even make the trade in the video game based on the age difference alone :P

Seriously what does buffalo gain from this?

Wellllllll

The devils have a giant mural of Broduer in their arena and have built a substantial legacy around him, so trading him would be stupid and destructive. In the long run after he retires it would be better to have him on good terms with the team obviously for PR purposes.

HOWEVER.

I think for the next 5 years I would unquestionably rather have Miller. Purely as a hockey trade, I'd do it, but the costs to the Devils legacy and mystique is too great to ignore.

As stated though, The Sabres would never do this. Trading Broduer will never make sense since he's worth more to the Devils than any other team.

Can I trade Marty for Jesus Christ instead? Y'know, if God calls and says "Hey, I don't really like the way his beard is growing in"?

What if we can trade Marty for the entire Pens and Caps roster and the league gives a special exception for the salary cap, do you think the Devils would do it?

I found a way we can get Bonds and Griffey without having to give up that much.

same deal as tim thomas last year, miller will be terrible next year. i bet money on it. the real deal is consistency, which brodeur has.

Miller's only issues have been a bad team and injuries, this year is a break out season I've been waiting for for a couple of years. He's gonna sustain it. That said, Marty's the greatest of all time, and he's still damn good. A couple bad games when he was over tired don't change that. Yeah, Miller's gonna play for longer, but Marty's earned the right to play here forever. Period.

Brodeur just needs to score more goals and everything will be fine.

LOL
