Jerrydevil
Hey, maybe we can even an ACTUAL bad season, so some people here can see what it's like. Sorry, losing in the first round after finishing 1st a few years in a row isn't 'bad'. Unfortunate maybe, and it's definitely a huge letdown, but about 15 teams would kill for that. You say "Don't know what you've got til it's gone." I say "Every rose has its thorn." Having raised expectations ain't an entirely bad thing. Lou put a great team on the ice and it unfortunately imploded.
Beezer34
Lou put a great team on the ice and it unfortunately imploded. That has little to do with the dying leadership\direction of a general manager whom "built" a franchise's foundation on self-discipline, and accountability. Counterbalanced coaching decisions, flying jelly jars, and the inability to let-go.. don't really reinforce that thought-process still existing throughout this organization, unfortunately. Disagree. It may not be the correct answer, but a critically-thinking Devils fan should spend some time considering the question and not just dismiss it out of hand. Like it or not, this franchise is fast approaching a crossroads (if it's not already there). The retirements of Brodeur and Lamoriello are looming, and it's natural to wonder whether we'd be better off having those happen sooner rather than later.
