RIP Bob Sheppard

I read Jeter is still going to use his recording for his at-bats...I love that.

Bob Sheppard was often referred to as the Yankee Stadium "Voice of God", don't go around correcting people without knowing all of the facts. Thanks for stopping in to show some respect, you Mutt piece of trash.

A truly sad day in baseball. Yankee Stadium was never the same after he stopped doing the PA. RIP.

The first game he ever announced featured Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Ted Williams. The guy has seen it all.

Rest in peace.

I'm not sure how Bob Murphy ever got into the conversation, but the story behind the "Voice Of God" was that Bob Sheppard actually made a trip to Boston and announced Reggie Jackson when he came to bat, causing Reggie to refer to him as the "Voice of God" in a post-game news conference.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, as I know approximately 0 Mets lore, but if you got a story, bring it up.

I always said if my childhood had a voice, it would be his. God Bless Bob Sheppard.
