My Rant

Here's just one reason why the Devils have problems selling tickets early in the year. I called the season ticket office yesterday to inquire about a partial season/game plan. I was told that all game plans are in the 52 dollar seats (for the first year) so the absolute cheapest for two seats was over 600 dollars. Subsequent years, I would be able to downgrade. They need to sell game plans in the cheaper seats in my opinion. To make matters worse. When I asked the guy if I could just purchase 2 20 dollar tickets for 6 individual games I was told I would have to go thru ticketmaster or show up at the box office. Sorry Lou, the CAA box office on the freakin TP just isnt a place I'm going to swing by on the way home from work. The only time I'll go there is on a game night. I wound up going thru ticketmaster and instead of paying 40 dollars per game I had to pay 53 dollars PER GAME for two 20 dollar seats. I also wasn

Cuz we're Devils fans. Nothings every easy for us :) all we have is a good team, the organization can pretty much give a crap about us :) That's nothing new. From ticket prices, to giveaways, to accesibility, to watever. All we get is winning. That's good enough for me, so I stopped bitching about Lou and and some of his organziational policies.

The Devils treat their season ticket holders, as well as other people who want tickets, like crap.

You wanna fix the attendance issue? Get a good system that serves the customer.

DC does it a lot differently. They treat their customers very well.

for season tickets and the weekday or weekend plan you can pick and choose where you want to sit. last season i had the weekend plan and sat in the $20 seats. for the 6 game plans you have to sit in the $52 seats.

That kinda stinks for diehard NJ fans that they force you to purchase at least $52 ticket plans for more than six games.

They want more fans? How about making their cheapest seating plans more available? I bet that would help.

Yeah, but the point is the same. Say someone wants a six-game plan but wants the $20 seats, or $35. Can't do it. So they end up buying individual game tickets. Now, if they had the six-game plan, they would be buying all 6, no matter what. There's nothing to say that the same person denied for the six-game plan is still going to six games - they could very well go to less.

What exactly do the Devils want? To alienate the people that are trying to support the team? Awful!!!

i agree with you that its stupid that you can't pick and choose where you want to sit for the 6 game plan but thats just how its always been for as long as i can remember. they dont draw fans because they really don't do anything to entice people to go. yes the team is good but there needs to be more.

I encountered the same situation when I called, and it's really got me irked. Do these guys realize how bad the local economy is? Of course they do, they whine about it every time their low attendance is brought up. Why, then, can't they be grateful to accept any new accounts regardless of price? I work a low paying job while going to school part time, I don't have alot of cash, but I've got 4-500 that I was willing to drop on hockey. Because of the runaround and backwardass policies, though, it's going to Center Ice. Bad enough that they changed up the seating scheme slyly enough to avoid raising prices - there's just alot less of the cheaper seats now. I really don't know who they're aiming for, business-wise, as there are very few big city-type company accounts going out the north jersey as there are in major cities - it's pretty blue collar at the swamp, so why not treat it as such?

Bah, I'm just ranting. I'll still go to select games, but now I gotta hit scalpers. Here's hoping we at least get ticket price drops with a new CBA (yeah, right).

Well, I didn't mean to get into an attendance issue, because there are many reasons for bad attendance. But stupid policies like this don't help - right?

We still got the Mc Nabb blues. Take a dumb policy, and if the building doesn't fall down, keep it in place until it does. HEY A$$H***S, SELL SOME F***'N TICKETS AND STOP COMPLAINING!!! How's that, guys? :argh:

Well it seems like they're trying to allievieate their early-season attendance woes in one respect. Basically every home game this month, other than the banner game of course (Tampa, Florida, even the Flyers - for the Bergen record subscribers) they've offered half price $52 tickets.

I do agree it stinks they won't let you do the $20 for 6-game plans, I don't know where exactly they're gaining money in that.

Here's my little semi-rant about the front office (very long story short)...

Once game last year, my g/f and I were vomited on by a really drunk fan (yes, :puke: ). After all the formalities (going down to the security office, writing statements, etc., we were escorted to the ticket counter to get new seats. They said (and I quote) "Our policy is to upgrade seats only within the same price range." WE WERE IN THE 9th ROW UPSTAIRS!!!

They gave us seats in the same section, 2nd row! It's not like the arena was sold out or anything... It was a relatively low draw (12,000 or so) and they wouldn't let us go downstairs!

Now I understand that the arena had absolutely no fault in the matter (other than the guy being noticably way over the edge), but c'mon!

MAKE THE FANS HAPPY LOU!!! WE MIGHT ACTUALLY ATTEND WITH SOME REGULARITY!!!

-Dan

(sorry about the  )

There are so few $20 seats. They want to have some open each game for the younger buyers who could drive, ie college students.

Ms. Terry Farmer is the head of ticket sales....good friggin luck with her...I had handicap seats in the works for $35 for partial plan...she nixed it because I wasn't buying full season and because last season, for the first time in Devils history in NJ, I didn't have a ticket plan dew to all my surgeries...I asked her if all the previous years didn't count and she said that is just the way it is....Tom Bates, her assistant, who was to call me when invoices went out never called...I asked Terry to have him call me and if he didn't call I would mail a letter to Lou...she said why...I said that is just the way it is.

The letter will be written and mailed before opening night...the Devils dew not sell out because of price or transportaion...they don't sell out because the Sales Dept thinks you are a leper unless you are a full season holder in Winners Circle...no wonder the sales team turnover is so high...talk to an account mgr (I use that term loosely) and call back month or so later and they don't work their anymore..FRIG EM ALL

I've had very nice encounters with Terry Farmer for many years (now, I'm a non-winners circle full-season ticket holder, so that may influence things). I've found her to be reasonable and of assistance when I needed it.

That said, flexibility on the part of the ticket office would help fans in the situations described here.

Any time I've had an issue, I've called up and asked for Lou, or written to him. On each occasion, I've received a response directly from him. You can search the archives of this board for confirmation of Lou's attention to fan inquiries.

You may not like what he says, and he may not change the policy for you, but he will listen to you and I suspect, that given a good argument (such as "I would pay you an extra 2 bucks to avoid the ticketmaster absurd charges of $10+"), he might think about a change to the policy that would satisfy the issue.

Any special address to remit a letter to Lou or just the vanilla PO Box 504 etc? Game 3 of the 95 SCF he asked where my mom was since all our tickets were 119 and she sat in handicap...he almost cried when we told him we buried her that morning...she watched game 1 and the excitement was too much for her ailing heart...she died in her sleep. Farmer used to be nice when I had full season for 1st 17 years...when I changed to partial I became a leper...after I had to skip a season dew to health issues I became a fan not worthy of any of her time...full season or hell with you...now I say the hell with getting any more of my money...I will still send that letter...I am fired up for it now...attended a BS, spun Lucent retiree meeting today to listen to why they are cutting our medical benefits yet paying the CEO 38M...go figure :noclue:

Have to admit, for all the philly fan horror stories they carry a lot more weight with the front office. Hell they got a no bring your own food rule overturned at the new Linc park.

Could you imagine us trying that at CAA? Lou himself would probably barricade the doors.

you can bring your own food. I've brought in fast food all the time in the past. No bottles. Then again, you aren't supposed to bring in umbrellas and stuff now so it may have changed
