Zubie#8
Reasons I don't trust this article: 1) New Jeryse Devils 2) Kovalchuk has 58 goals in 49 games this season with the Thrashers So...yeah. I could've written a more detailed article. lol didnt catch those two errors at all i skimmed it real quick...he has 58pts tho
maxpower
with the rumors of other teams pulling out, im starting to think he's getting nervous and is gonna take the best offer he's got. waddell has a history of some 'what the hell' trades so anything can happen. too young for the gilmour trade haha he's got a month, he'd have to be a fool to go now "just because"... but the problem is that he already set this in motion by telling Kovalchuk he'd be gone. then again, this is the numbnuts that put together that 2007 debacle. build for the playoffs, get curbstomped by the Rangers for their first series win in 250 years. NJDevs26
that's not true, if it's the player potentially being traded... if it's close to happening, and you don't run your business like an a$$hole, they'll get some headsup. and then there's the agents. he was looking into booking Bergfors. lol, that guy's a curse - he had Clemmensen all booked for his place last year and then literally the day before he was supposed to come he gets sent down to Lowell. But yeah he clearly has some contacts, at least locally.

MadDog2020
For those of us that are at work and can't access twitter... what does it say? Somebody mentioned the fact that Rick Dudley (Atlanta's Assistant GM) was at the Lowell-Hartford game last night, in addition to being at the Devils-Leafs game in Toronto the night before, and McKenzie responds with: "A case could be made". Also says Kovalchuk to NJ wouldn't surprise him since he can't come up with more reasons why others teams won't do it.

PaDevsFan
From the Philly Daily news per the Atlanta Constiturion Journal, sounds like Philly may not be able to shed enough salary to make it happen. Maybe more in the Devils favor as it seems as though there are only a few teams even being mentioned at this point. Triumph
Oduya - Not a fan of Bergfors - PP specialist so far 1st - Late 1st Palmieri - A project Even for a rental I am game for this. eh, i think it's too much - the devils would have to be really high on other players in their system. here's the team next year if that trade comes to pass: parise-zajac-langenbrunner elias-zubrus-clarkson rolston-?-zharkov leblond-pelley-halischuk salvador-greene white-? ?-? then in 2012: parise-zajac-? rolston-zubrus-elias ?-cormier-zharkov leblond-pelley-halischuk salvador-? white-? ?-? that's a lot of holes to fill. also that 2012 team will cost 39 million with 4 spots on defense and 2 spots on wing to fill. jim777
Does this thread end up in the Hall of Fame or Hall of Shame? This is a great thread! I can only hope its this exciting around here come June I bet site stats will bear it out. So...what if we're trading guys with LA so LA can trade them to Atlanta for #17? Any three way deals make sense? (OK, I don't know the LA guys so well, just putting it out there we may be involved for reasons other than Kovalchuk)

ao814
Source: Thrashers step up trade efforts The Atlanta Thrashers have stepped up their efforts to move superstar winger Ilya Kovalchuk and a trade could happen "by the weekend," a source close to the situation told ESPN.com Wednesday. Kovalchuk It appeared Wednesday night that the Philadelphia Flyers, Los Angeles Kings and New Jersey Devils were the teams still involved, two sources said. ESPN.com confirmed that Thrashers associate GM Rick Dudley was at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., on Wednesday night scouting an AHL game between New Jersey's farm team, the Lowell Devils, and the Hartford Wolfpack. Chimaira_Devil_#9
then in 2012: parise-zajac-? rolston-zubrus-elias ?-cormier-zharkov leblond-pelley-halischuk salvador-? white-? ?-? that's a lot of holes to fill. also that 2012 team will cost 39 million with 4 spots on defense and 2 spots on wing to fill. For the forwards in 2012 if you move Rolston down to LW 3rd line, Tedenby (development willing) should be able to fill that spot on the second line. This is a player the devils staff are really high on along with Josefson. Lou mentioned that the draft team at the table when they got one of these guys (can't remember which, think it was Tedenby) was buzzing. Also im pretty sure we will be able to get Clarkson to resign for a decent amount, although i dont really think he is top line right wing material. The development of Corrente Burlon Urbom and Eckford is pretty important.
