I like how they chromed the wing tips and parts of the engine covers!

It's not really "chromed". The wingtips are aluminum and the lighting is just making them shine. The engine parts are more of a brushed aluminum look, at least the front rings.

Anyways, here she is in Vancouver:

I shoulda said "shiny"..oh well it still looks cool. :D

I wonder why you never see any pictures taken of the front part of the plane?

edit: maybe the photographer needs to increase the shutter speed on his camera. :whistling:

Probably the location of the plane and the location of the spotter. That and they probably want a decent shot of the tail since the rest is just plain white.

I'm sure we'll see more in the future as photogs always like getting the oddball/unusual/rare stuff.

These days spotting in Newark is tough or you probably would have seen a ton from there.

Heh, always felt like going through a car wash to me.

ah.. very nice. why do the teams (in genaral) use this particular aircraft? Is it b/c of the reliablity, cost to maintain or ??

edit: Do other pro teams use the same type or does it depend on how big the traveling team is?

It's just a matter of what the charter airline operates and is capable of providing what the team needs capacity wise. Not all teams use the 727. I believe Detroit uses a DC-9, Stars use a 757, I think Columbus had a 737. The Devils used a DC-9 prior to this but it wasn't for their exclusive use. Whatever gets you there.

With that said the 727 is an awesome plane so I'm glad that's what they use.

Some examples of other teams' planes:

Obviously not all are painted in team colors as they are part of an airlines or charter company's fleet.

  • 9 months later...

Not trying to bump an old topic but I just saw this thread/post on HF and it made me remember this thread from last year. Seems there's been another sighting of our infamous plane yesterday!

So coming home from work just now, passing through the 78 East entrance to the Turnpike extension, I see a 727 landing, nothing out of the ordinary.

But then I catch the tail, a big ass Devils logo....

My brother is a pilot and flies out of Newark, he says it usually just sits on the north end of the complex doing nothing except when the team's on a roadtrip.

Little bit of Googling found these:

Pretty freakin sweet ride eh? I'm curious though, what the hell was it doin landing tonight? Team should be all here, maybe they're leasing it out to make some more cash?
