Bernier, Harrold & Janssen on Waivers. Carter to Wild

TG also tweeted:

"Carter said it's possible he could have worked things out with the Devils, but there was no guarantee today that they would sign him..."

I hope this isn't a case of Lou dragging his feet just a little too long with him. I hope that Lou gave him a hint that he should take another offer because I would hate for Lou to actually want him but after all this time, he signs with another team.

i think if you read between the lines, carter was offered a 1 way deal early in UFA, probably for $750k or $800k and thought he could do better (2 year deal similar to gionta). Devils then went and signed bernier to $600k deal. Carter overplayed his hand and had to take 2way deal from minny. would not be surprised in the slightest if injuries hit the devils if they trade for him mid-season.

Unless he's playing in the minors at the time (or Minnesota somehow blows up and is out of playoff contention) I don't see it at all.  Minnesota's going to use him imo.

yea i agree.. TG also reported that Minnesota had talked to Carter earlier in the summer and they circled back to him a couple days ago.. they were definitely interested in Carter

damn it carter! this was ass backwards. we let the best fourth liner we had from last season stand around and signed two other bums over him

Blows about Carter. But they fvcking keep Gionta, of course. Pisses me off...

To be fair,

I was told that Carter turned down a contract offer from the Devils earlier in summer. After that, Devils made other moves.

It's very possible the offer TG is referring to was before Bernier and/or Gio were signed.

Maybe. He's taking 725K from Minny, so I don't think it could have been very low. Gio got 850k, so I'm guessing Carter was in the neighborhood. Maybe he was hoping for an even million.

Or it was about term rather than salary (maybe he wanted two years).

But yeah can't really blame Lou on Carter over Gionta/Bernier any more since both sides confirmed Carter turned down an offer.

ah this we didnt hear until know. Agree that it must have obviously been a low ball offer..just sucks that were stuck with gionta and bernier and he got away from us. Oh well i guess hopefully gomez can be better than what im thinking he really is because iam fairly certain we will sign him

If we threw Zubrus down on that line as the center it could be the "Oo" Line.

that is indeed where he belongs, i dont like him being on the line with elias and havlat he slows it down..he doesnt have much left in the tank old zubes.

People do realize that the Devils have Tuomo Ruutu on their 4th line right?  And that he scored 8 goals last year which is more than Carter has ever scored in a season?

unfortunently he is making why too much money to just be sitting on our fourth line..i dont think that was a very wise deal we made when we acquired him and his salary.
