CRASHER
Eh, I've been trying to get myself back in the groove of doing football write-ups this year (hell there's half an AFC preview and half a full-out week one preview sitting in my laptop right now wasting away in MS Word.... i've just found it damned near impossible to get fired up for this season, and I write from my emotions, always have (better or worse ), but I did want to start the thread and hopefully sitting through the week 1 games will get me back to my normal routines and wanting to rant, rave and insult as normal!! So what might have driven me to this point of football apathy I'm at? Yes the air in the football nonsense and Goodell, for lack of a better example, trying to throw the death penalty at a guy who was jaywalking just because the group he's associated with got away with a felony ten years ago and I'LL SHOW YOU DAMMIT!! (Thank God they lost in court and this might be the beginning of the end of the Goodell Error in football)....but that's only a part of it.... REAL CHEATING went on by the Browns and the Falcons.... NO ONE cared.... an NFL player assaulted another in the TEAM'S LOCKER ROOM...and oh by the way he might get 4 games for it .....but there's even more, you know that league that preaches safety and moves kickoffs up to the 35 for "safety reasons" now wants to make the extra point "more exciting" (translation we're losing TONS of advertising revenue on PAT's and god forbid the NFL miss a single scrap at the dollar table , while still allowing chop blocks and stiff-arm blows to the head....the last week of fantasy football drafts has kicked up a bit of fuel in the fire, plus I can't let this season go by without me giving JPP a high five...no wait...four? No its a high three and a half right? Or mocking the Browns for being 7-9 and feeling "mission accomplished, let's tear it down!"....so I'm trying to get there..... gimmie another week ....meanwhile in lieu of big predictions, i'll end this with my official "who's gonna make the playoffs" guesses AFC: New England, Pittsburgh (bye week), Indianpolis (home field), Denver Wild Cards: Miami (there's no excuses left, all the pieces are there), Kansas City NFC: Dallas (bye week), Green Bay (home field), Carolina, Seattle Wild Cards: Phily, Minnesota I fully expect another Packer-Steeler Super Bowl, but ask me again in three months....meanwhile, enjoy the games and all the sports entertainmentzzzz before the game tonight and hopefully I have a full preview in me next week! Note to self: never type a long rant from one's phone, it murders all the formatting Edited September 10, 2015 by CRASHER

You mean the same team that had their head coach almost run a pick on a Raven running a punt return for a TD? As long as they keep score, people are gonna find a way to bend the rules

SS#4-Life
theydid end up turning the headsets off for pats to. theres also no way of gauging how much of an advantage it gave the pats. if this happened to any other team it would just be a simple malfunction. but because its them everyone jumps to cheating

Beezer34
You mean the same team that had their head coach almost run a pick on a Raven running a punt return for a TD? Throughout a span of 6 years, the Patriots video-recorded opposing teams\coaches’ signals for at least 40 games, including postseason games. The Patriots were fined a quarter of a million dollars, Bill Belichick was fined $500,000.00, and the NFL withdrew the Patriots 1st Round Draft Pick. From 2000-2007, the organization would deploy a low-level Patriots employee to sneak into visiting locker rooms and steal playbook sheets during pregame warm-ups. In a 2014 playoff game with the Baltimore Ravens, the Patriots used illegal plays and formations throughout 3 quarters. This falls under the ordinance of “deception” as it sojourns teams from making proper adjustments and\or substitutions. Former Patriots QB Doug Flutie alleged that: in 2005 Flutie overheard a prohibited radio frequency in Tom Brady’s helmet, outside the purview of the NFL-monitored station. During games, sideline officials cut-off open channel(s) and\or communications 15 seconds before the play clock expires. In this violation, the additional frequency would continue speaking to Brady, right up until the snap. During the 2014 AFC Championship, equipment associate: Jim McNally (known by the moniker: “Deflator”) confiscated footballs from officials to deflate below the legal limits. After seizing all twelve footballs, the NFL concluded that 11 were below legal limits. The Patriots were fined $1,000.000.00, the organization was forced to forfeit their 1st Round & 4th Round Draft Picks, and Tom Brady was suspended the first 4 games of the season. (*this suspension was later overturned) ..when this much controversy gets added to Tomlin\Steelers resume, then we can talk. Until then.. the scales are tipped just a bit, in one organizations favor. if this happened to any other team it would just be a simple malfunction. but because its them everyone jumps to cheating And they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt! They lost that privilege after forfeiting 4 draft picks, and $1,750,000.00 throughout 2 scandals. How much of an edge it gave them in a game that ended 28-21.. we'll never know. Whether it was a genuine malfunction, or whether it was deliberate.. we'll never know. All we know is their trackrecord.. and THAT'S why the majority of the narrative today is: "Patriots Cheat Again" -vs- "Brady Throws 4" It's almost as if now they're going out of their way to do things that'll put them in the crosshairs. Jason La`Canfora basically echoed the same thing. You can't make this kind of stuff up. My brother-in-law is a Pats diehard, and he sounded off last night: "I can't enjoy any god-damn victories anymore with this team, because everytime they do there's some kind of controversy." --and whether it's all just serendipity, we'll never know. But it's difficult to feel bad for them when (quite literally) everything breaks in their favor. EDIT: And from everything I'm reading.. this happened to just the Steelers for the entire 1st quarter. When the officials went to the Patriots to turn their headsets off for the start of the 2nd quarter (to make things fair) THATS when the Steelers headsets started to magically work again! Lol Edited September 11, 2015 by Beezer34
NJDevs4978
@Edwerderespn: #Steelers HC Mike Tomlin a member of NFL Competition Committee. Steelers say headsets fine when #Pats had ball; failed when #Steelers had it Yep just a coincidence, nothing to see here. And on the Steelers own website they indicated the headsets worked the minute the NFL people came down then went back to not working when the NFL people left. MadDog2020
Hopefully karma rains down on that organization and their arrogant, jackbag fans sooner rather than later... And that will hopefully be in the form of being caught red-handed in the act so the APPROPRIATE punishment can be doled out, and so an end will be put to this bullsh!t once and for all. NJDevs4978
There's just a SLIGHT difference between getting caught doing one shady thing (and is what Farmer did really cheating as opposed to just having illegal contact with their own personnel?), and systematically going out of your way to do multiple layers of cheating over a decade AND getting called on it To me this is actually a thousand times worse than the silly ball thing (the NFL themselves dropped the ball on that one). If you read the ESPN article at all and still think 'the Pats just do what everyone else does' then you're letting your pathological hatred of Goodell bias your opinion. If it was just about the rest of the league being jealous of their success why don't we ever hear about this crap happening in Seattle, in Baltimore, in Green Bay, in New Orleans, etc? MDPucks
Ravens Terrell Suggs out for the year with a torn Achilles. Colts get pants'd in Buffalo and basically highlight every knock critics had of the Colts offseason lack of toughness on O-line and defense. The Miami-Washington game was painful to watch. 2015 knock-out pool strategy should be to take whoever is playing the Redskins.

Seriously...I saw that one coming a mile away. The Bills are just too physical for a finesse team like the Colts on the road where they can't outrun people like they can on that track in Indy. If it wasn't for the Pats on Opening Night with Brady being a better bet I'd have taken the Bills in the knockout pool
NJDevs4978
lol the Giants deserved to lose for one of the most idiotic clock decisions I've ever seen. How do you throw an incompletion on 3rd and goal from the 2 when the Cowboys have used up all their timeouts?! That's like Herm Edwards/Rex Ryan type of bad clock management and this was COUGHLIN doing it. At worst you make them go the length of the field with under a minute left and they can't do dink passes to the RB, at best they get a TD game over. How do you throw an incompletion on 3rd and goal from the 2 when the Cowboys have used up all their timeouts?! If you take a look at Eli's last 100 games (going all the way back to the 2008 season) he's exactly 50-50. I know fans will site the fact that there's a Superbowl sandwiched in there.. but the "Eli HOF'er" chatter has completely died down, and rightfully so. Eli has found more ways to lose games than to win them since 2012.. and at only 34, he shouldn't be on the decline yet. He's a .500 QB that needs ALOT of help around him to be successful. Hall of Fame quarterbacks don't have the type of seasons he's had the past few years.
MantaRay
Eli played a great game considering his O-Line was horrible and gave him no time to set and throw. Add to the fact that Beckham was shutdown all night and no one else could separate, I thought Eli did a great job. No turnovers inspite of no support was a vital stat. Credit the Dallas D for playing a near flawless game plan. Edited September 14, 2015 by MantaRay
