iamtheprodigy
That's pretty harsh. I expected 1-2 games at worst. But then again, maybe A-Train has had 1-2 game suspensions in the past so he was considered a repeat offender? I'm not sure. Looks like we'll have to survive with Fraser and Salmela in the line-up. Here's the clip that was posted in the other thread as well for reference:

jagknife
If Matt Cooke doesn't get more for his hit from behind last night, this is complete and utter bullsh!t.

Hi, I'm VALUE!
Consistent with the flowchart: Second or third liner > not Avery > 1-5 games.
devilsfan26
That's lame, his head is lower because he is reaching for the puck and it looks to me like Volchenkov let up when he noticed that.
jagknife
That's lame, his head is lower because he is reaching for the puck and it looks to me like Volchenkov let up when he noticed that. exactly, is there an appeal process in the NHL like in other sports? cause i'd like him around for Friday.... CRASHER
That's lame, his head is lower because he is reaching for the puck and it looks to me like Volchenkov let up when he noticed that. They're reverting to NFL rules with that Knew it was coming with the time NHL Network spent talking about it last night.......
CarpathianForest
Nonsense!! But hey we all know the Devils being on a roll is no good for the NHL. The Caps are in the crapper and Pittsburgh is Crosby-less.
iamtheprodigy
Here's the Cooke hit: Pens commentators are such homers they just come across as caricatures at this point.
NJDevs4978
Three games...figures. Now that we have a pulse, the NHL's doing its level best to screw us again, no calls last night and now putting Volchenkov out till after the next Canes game. Lol what a joke there is only one way of looking at it and that's that Matt Cooke is a scumbag.
DevilMinder
Oh come on! I am starting to really think the league does have a beef with the Devils. It was a bad hit but there has been worse with less consequences.
devils26
What the hell was Anton thinking? That looked pretty intentional. Edit: To be clear, I disagree with the NHL's ruling, but why even give them the chance to suspend you? CarpathianForest
Totally incindental. Zach Boychuk was going down and more or less ran into what would have been a shoulder check if he didn't go down. It's half Train half-Boychuk. Boychuk's head snapping back is more of a result of Zach moving head head quickly out of the way than A-Train hitting it.
SS-SS
When I saw the hit last night I already knew he was getting suspended...not for the hit but mostly because he is wearing Red, white and Black. If his name was Cooke or Avery, this hit would have been called a beauty or a legal hit. Once again, fvckK YOU NHL
thefiestygoat
I could understand a 1 game, maybe 2 game suspension...but 3 is just ridiculous.

Pepperkorn
3 games... seriously? He's never been suspended before. and it's not at ALL on purpose -- and the dude isn't even expecting to miss any games! This is really really poor politics. EDIT: and I do consider myself unbiased. I love getting on Devils for sh!t penalties that come out of frustration... this was just bad timing and I think a little lack of control out there -- trying too hard and getting sloppy. SS-SS
Cooke once again gave a dirty hit yesterday.Anyone heard of a suspension ???? Instead Volchenkov was quickly suspended. This league is fvcking ridiculous.
