From NYC. Trains are $5. You're going from New York Penn Station to Newark Penn Station. Yes they are both called Penn Stations. Train takes about 20 minutes. It's very quick.

If you wanted to really walk around the building - I'd get there about 6pm.

If this is your first time in around Newark - I would suggest going to Hobby's Deli. It's about a 5 minute walk from the building. So worth the trip. It's a old-style Jewish deli, the owners are big Devils fans and they have a game night menu that's really good. Better than the food in the building.

I've been wanting to jump on a plane and go see Arsenal play at Highbury (Emirates) for years now.  It's just that I have no prayer for the spontaneity of it, can't just leave the rest of the Leeds' home while I gallivant around.

Welcome and enjoy.

I 2nd the Arsenal thing!

Man, very cool to hear someone just getting to attend their first Devils game, and also awesome to hear someone donate their tickets.  Nice going.

I've been to a few Devils games at CAA as a kid, but yet to return since the Rock was built to see a game there.  Here's hoping I get to make a thread like this in the near future.

Thanks guys. It is Fecking freezing. But we spent the whole day walking around the city.

Went to the NHL store and brought a hat as I left mine at home. Lucky my ears didn't fall off. Tomorrow is the big day. Can't wait.

Enjoy, just wish you could have been there for the good times. Unfortunately you are seeing the Rock with the Devils at their worst and playing possibly the worst team in the history of hockey, when it's possibly colder than it's ever been here in history. That said, please enjoy. :P McWhorter BBQ highly recommended before gametime. Though it's not the most happening joint if you want atmosphere.

Well I have been to my first Devils game. Wasn't the smoothest of experiences (my fault, massively underestimated how long it would take to get to NY Penn Station).

But I did enjoy it a lot. Thank you Bonginator11 for the tickets :-) the seats were excellent and we got to see the devils shoot in the shootout.

In terms of the crowd, it was quiet. My Girlfriend was looking forward to the atmosphere (she is not a hockey fan) after our trip to a DEL game in Cologne over Christmas. But she was just amazed at how little people were into the game. And I have to say it was quiet.

I understand it is Tuesday , against buffalo, with snow, but even after the shootout everyone just bailed.

One thing that did surprise me was the amount of children at the game. It can only be good for the future of the team. Hopefully the Devils can work to put a decent product on the ice to keep them interested.

All in all I really enjoyed it. And I am looking forward to Fridays game to hopefully get there in time to go to the shop and rake some pictures.

And yet even in a miserable season, you brought luck to our team. Sure, we might have played the worst team in NHL history but I am going to go ahead and give you credit anyway. :P

Should be a better crowd Friday...well I hope so. Too bad you couldn't make it in 2012, the atmosphere was always great.

Haha. I don't actually leave till 8.30 PM tomorrow. So hopefully the luck stays for one more night.

Had an awesome time at both games. Tonight was very exciting with the crowd getting into it.

I was in section 5. There were some great people around us. I got was to over excited on the empty netter. Hugged one dude. Tried to high five another guy twice and missed both times. Epic fail.

At the end of the game I shook one of the guys hands which he thought was hilarious and then proceeded to shake everyone else's hand around us.

All in all it was a great night.

Cold enough for ya CD? Lol. Hope you're having fun.

It was positively tropical. Lol.

Had an amazing time.

Devils went 3-0-0 whilst I was in the state of New Jersey. If the organisation want to hire me for the rest of the year they will need to fly me back as I have just landed.

Chimaira Devil - it sounds like you had a great time this past week.  So glad you could fulfill a long-time dream.  Hopefully the next time you come over to the NYC area it won't be so cold.  (Much of the eastern U.S. experienced record low temperatures during the third week of February.)

Incidentally, if/when you come over the next time, if you are in lower Manhattan prior to a game, you can take the PATH train from the World Trade Center site/Freedom Tower to Newark Penn Station.
