devlman
I'm surprised people are so down on Pierre, doesn't he kiss Zach's fanny and praise the Devils for having a more 'exciting' system now (he's apparently one of the few in the media that notice we don't play the Lemaire trap)? Oh yes, the NJ Devils no longer trap even tho we've forechecked (or at least tried to) for the past decade. Thanks Pierre Edited May 2, 2012 by devlman
Daniel
Was at a bar watching the game with no sound, so I can't speak to anything he said tonight. However, I think he's one of the best in the business. He does a good job at the draft , from saying immediately that the Devils got a steal in Parise and Larsson, and even on the Fan where he doesn't relexively say how awesome the Rangers are. In fact he often makes an extra effort to talk about other teams when Francesa or whoever just wants it to be about the Rangers.

daneyko_booster
Between all of the analysts and announcers on NBC, how many silver things have they won? I am having trouble naming one an the closets ones are Barry as coach if the kings and JR on the blakhawks. Um, is this a joke? Pierre McGuire himself has his name on the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Penguins, and Olczyk won as a player with the Rangers. Satans Hockey
They need to send Pierre back to TSN.

In fact he often makes an extra effort to talk about other teams when Francesa or whoever just wants it to be about the Rangers. This is his problem, though, he needs to do justice to certain people or places. I can't tell you how often he namedrops random junior hockey coaches, junior hockey teams, college teams, ECHL teams, AHL teams, etc. etc. - the dude knows his stuff, he knows the league in terms of where players played better than anyone. But he trots it out when it's not relevant information.
Chuck the Duck
His "expert analysis" is just obvious sh!t that anyone who's watched hockey for a couple of games would know. But his comments in the second and parts of the third bordered on the ridiculous. It is brutal listening to him without Doc to bring some levity and reality to the broadcast. Amazingly, I don't think he hates the Devils at all. I've heard him in his weekly segment on XM's NHL Home ICe channel, and he always has good things to say about the team, and picked them as his dark horse to make a long run in these playoffs. I just think that, when it comes to national TV, they are told to talk about and highlight certain teams all the time (Philly, Rangers, Detroit, Pitt, etc.), at the expense of whoever they are playing. And every time I hear Kenny Albert speak, all I keep hearing in my head is "YEEESSSS!!!"
njmar
Fortunately the Sunday NBC games no longer feature Pierre and Milbury sparring it out at intermissions, like they did last season. That was just brutal to listen to.
maxpower
He was bad today. If you can get around his creepy weird "cool dad" act, he normally isn't. But it was as if he had to be the Iraqi Information Minister today for Comcast.

sundstrom
pierre was a bit over the top tonight and the flyers being comfortable gaffe was a joke. but normally, i am actually a fan of his. clearly knows his stuff.

I agree with this. I tend to enjoy when Doc and Pang get together though because it reminds me of playing NHL faceoff 99 on the original playstation. squishyx
I hate Pierre with a passion and tonight was just another notch on the belt in terms of terrible performances. That. was. brutal.

DevsMan84
Um, is this a joke? Pierre McGuire himself has his name on the Stanley Cup as an assistant coach with the Penguins, and Olczyk won as a player with the Rangers. I forgot about olczyk but McGuire as an assistant GM barely counts as a lot of times it's a ceremonial job.
peteyvegas
At one point in the second period, the Devils had outshot the Flyers 10-0. That D**k with ears was trying to convince us that the Flyers had the game under control. Even with his weeping boyfriend JR in the booth, anyone can see that the Devils dominated every aspect of this game. With the exception of the one Marty (**a Marty is when Brodeur makes a bonehead play and gives up a goal) and 5 minutes to start the game, this was a no contest. So Mr. Shaq wannabee, go take your deadpan, Lurchlike voice and kiss our a**es!!!

I am having trouble naming one an the closets ones are Barry as coach if the kings and JR on the blakhawks. I hate Pierre, but I hate Roenick just as much. Ever since his lockout comments about the fans, how they "don't f#%king get it", and now his arrogant attitude, like he's some sort of hockey guru because he's an analyst for NBC... I guess they all feel that way being on national television
RichL
Let me add my name to this illustrious group. Can't stand the guy. I don't know what game he was watching, the Flyers were far from comfortable after the first period. In fairness, he does fluff Parise a lot. But it's nothing the way he fellates the Penguins. The 29th Pick
This is about what our "Devils board memebers"(70/30) think, so it's not just "us" Devils fans that don't like the guy. Whether he knows hockey or not, he should never ever be so one sided when commenting during a game, especially trying to "build up" the team that is struggling. devilsrule33
Didn't hear him last night but listened to him on the radio this morning. Gave all the credit to NJ last night for the huge win and thinks they will be an extremely tough out in the East. Very complimentary. Can't argue with that. He does a daily radio hot for a sports station in Ottawa.
