thefiestygoat
2012 TSN Midseason Draft Rankings Not directly Devils or draft related but I thought this was rather interesting: Buzzing the Net: College Hockey Inc. and the NCAA’s two-pronged tactic to stop summertime jumps to the CHL College Hockey Inc., is working to enact legislation — either with the oversight of the NHL or through the transfer agreement between USA Hockey and Hockey Canada — to bar Canadian major junior teams from stealing a player who has signed a letter of intent until after the player's freshman year.If this doesn't pass, there is the threat of declaring open season. North Dakota coach Dave Hakstol has been quoted several times about lobbying to re-open college hockey to former major junior players (remember, there was a time when someone could do each, before the NCAA enacted its short-sighted, self-defeating rule). thefiestygoat
Minnesota vs Denver is on NBC Sports Network (formerly Versus). In the 2nd right now. Good chance to get a look at Helgeson. He almost got into a fight at the end of the 1st against Lee but neither player wanted to get ejected. He seemed really pumped up leaving the ice too. I forgot to mention this game and also the Michighan-Michigan State game that was on BTN earlier. I'm pretty tired and have work fairly early in the morning so I haven't been watching these games as close as I'd like to.

I notice a lot of his points come from the PP too. Right handed d-man too, should be interesting to see if he can continue his PP success into the pro's. I'd love to see what he looks like on an average team or even above average team so we can see what his defensive game is really like. I suppose Swift Current trades him next year if they are horrible again.

Triumph
Even if Reece Scarlett never makes the Devils, he seems like he should be a good addition to the AHL. The Devils have drafted plenty of players who don't even make good pros.
thefiestygoat
Great article on Jon Merrill from the NY Times: “As far as off the ice, I feel like it’s night and day,” Merrill said. “I’m just a really completely different person now. You don’t take hockey for granted, you get so close to losing it like that. I think my decision making is a lot better. I just wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize hockey anymore.” A lot of quotes from his teammates and Berenson in there so I suggest reading the whole article.
