The organization is under attack

William D'Aquila

Recommended Posts

1.Lou is going to be 73 and is Shero's boss. He still has a loud, influential voice within the organization

2. Who cares, what does Marty bring to the organization anymore? The answer is nothing

3. No big loss. Stevens is not exactly Larry Robinson as a defensive coach.

The organization is going through a long overdue transition. Marty is still on good terms, will get his number retired. Stevens I'm sure will eventually be brought back into the fold in some capacity. Nothing to be alarmed about here.

is this thread solely for drama? ridiculous. Lets be honest..we need some fresh changes around here, whats going on right now is for the best..new gm to shake some things up some new members to the coaching staff lets hope for some new players on the roster and maybe moving some old faces out..we need a little shake up.

In case you haven't noticed, we've missed the playoffs 4 out of the last 5 seasons, change is long overdue. God forbid a team that's forgotten how to win makes some changes; you try and do something proactive and it's viewed as a "coup." This thread is a joke.

We are turning into a Penguins, a franchise that has done nothing other than luck into two generation players.

The majority of you have goggles on, oh we missed the playoffs 4 out the past 5 years, oh Shero is young, you guys are just as delusional as I am.

Two years from now, when Shero is fired, and Harris and Blitzer, search for another GM we will have another former executive come in and attempt this same rebuild. And slowly, the memories of Brodeur, Stevens, Elias, and Lemieux will be replaced with more kid centric marketing and dollar dog nights. I'm not buying their bullsh!t though, I don't have blinders on, and I see what is happening. Anyone that COULD be loyal to Lou is being pushed out, anyone from the glory years is being marginalized. But hey Craig Adams as an assistant GM in a few years that sounds great!

You are really reaching there Beetlebum. Lou's loyalty to players like Sal and Zubrus is a good chunk of where we are now.  Again the ball didn't start rolling towards we were are today the day the new owners bought the team 22 months ago.  it started years ago.

Also there weren't dollar hot dog nights this past season.  That was a JVB marketing strategy (along with practically and literally giving away free tickets to every single home game).

With regards to ownership, would you prefer the team to be in bankruptcy?  Would you like to watch games in an eight year old arena that was already starting to fall apart because ownership can't pay the bills?  I suppose the answer is an emphatic yes if it means getting to say "you suck" to the other team when the Devils pull within 2 goals in the middle of the third period.Your idea that the Devils are getting away from "roots" or whatever is completely laughable considering what the front office did to get virtually everyone from the '95 team to celebrate the anniversary and make it a really great promotion.

So far as Lou, do you honestly believe that the Devils were two forwards away making the playoffs again?  But more importantly, at this moment how many organizations would switch every player they have in their organization for every player the Devils have, even if you include whoever the Devils draft this year?  Very, very few if any.  That state of affairs falls largely on Lou's shoulders, as well as Conte, another person you have this bizarre blind allegience to.

By contrast, people here who support the change in principle are for the most part honest about Shero's past performance, but we like that he seems to realize that status quo just won't do it anymore.

What a ridiculous attempt at a "look at me" post.

I can just imagine the thought process.. "Hmm.. no one is quoting nor arguing with my posts in the various other threads I've tried to derail.  I'd best step it up!"

Listen - I like the laid-back moderating here.  I really do.  And I can appreciate that DM and MS have real lives outside of this forum, and can't patrol here every hour of the day.

But this moron has been creating arguments for the sake of arguing for the past couple months.  He's CLEARLY trolling at this point.  He's been banned before - why is his account still active here?  He needs to have his IP banned already so we can stop having to deal with his nonsense.

Help us DM you're our only hope.

He has a perspective. It's not a well thought out or logical perspective, but it is his nonetheless. It's a long summer without playoffs. If you don't have guys like him spouting their nonsense then there is no activity whatsoever. If you don't like what he has to say, put him on ignore or at the very least don't respond to his threads. If you don't have a dissenting opinion you don't have a debate and without debate there is no point to a forum.

What's ironic is another anti-owners person on another board, who generally shares a message very similar to yours, has complained for months about the owners getting rid of "Dollar Dog Night"...

It's got nothing to do with his opinion or perspective. It's the trollish way he goes about his business here that's my problem.

And I have added him to my ignore list previously, but it's a useless function when others quote his posts and most threads involve people arguing with him.

Christ sake. "I don't like what he's saying so let's ban him"

Again, it has nothing to do with his opinion, it's the trollish manner of posting that causes problems.

A poster like this wouldn't be permitted to instigate on any of the other sports forums I follow. Improves the community imo.

I have to agree with everyone else. William D`Aquila started this thread. If you feel a certain way towards him, then don't bother clicking it.. period. By not clicking the thread itself, you won't see others replying to him.

This is a sports internet forum with a wide range of opinion(s). Someone starting a thread with a 19 word post is hardly trolling. Head to HF if you want to see genuine examples of trolling.

If those two forwards were of the caliber of Zach Parise and Ilya Kovalchuck, the Devils were two forwards away, yes. Does trading for Phil Kessel and possibly hitting a home run with this years draft pick get you there, maybe.

Lou, took the ethos of the great Canadiens team of the 60's and 70's, and brought that style to NJ. It meant continuity, it meant keeping the old timers around in the front office or coaching, to exhibit not only the sacrifice these players made individually, but as a as a team.  Now all of these individuals are being marginalized, some of whom are top 3 or top 20 players at their respective positions all time. That concerns me.

I don't know. On one hand, his handling of Larsson was a big success. On the other hand, we went from allowing 25 shots a game to 35-40 the second after the "changing of the guard". My guess is Shero looked at some tape from the second half of the season and didn't like what he saw, defensively. I know I didn't, outside of Larsson.

We are turning into the Penguins franchise, and slowly, the memories of Brodeur, Stevens, Elias, and Lemieux will be replaced..

Lemieux. As in; Claude Lemieux? The same guy that won a Stanley Cup with Montreal in 1986? Or how about Stephane Richer? The 3x All-Star.. 2x 50-goal scorer, who also won a Stanley Cup in Montreal, prior to coming to the Devils.

How about the front office since Uncle Lou took over? Jacques Lemaire.. Jacques Caron.. Jacques Laperriere.. Larry Robinson.. Pat Burns.. Mario Tremblay.. Claude Julien.. Pierre Mondou, etc. Or the shared principals of Montreal? The fact that Lou came in and said: "No facial hair, and\or jewelry showing?" --just like the Canadiens. No gimmick give-away-nights.. just like the Canadiens. No third jersey's.. just like the Canadiens.

..look throughout the history of this organization since Lamoriello took over.. you will find more Montreal fingerprints than you think. Lamoriello has gone on record regarding his affinity\infatuation with the Canadiens franchise. As a result.. the Devils enjoyed immense success. 3 Championships, and 5 Stanley Cup finals appearances throughout a span of 17 years. But now it's time for a paradigm shift.. and the new front office feels that the Penguins have the winning blueprint. There's nothing wrong with that.. it happens all the time in other sports franchises.

The legacy of guys like Elias, Brodeur & Stevens will NEVER be forgotten. Never! Embrace this change bro. We've got 1 playoff appearance over the last 5 years. It's time for healthy transformation.

Are you really comparing the Penguins to the greatest NHL franchise of all time?

We echo similar sentiments on the Habs see here - http://njdevs.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=134663&p=1320159
