I think this is funny, but really it is really sad.

1) Devils scheduled game on day the Rock was being used for something else

2) Some STH think the Devils screwed up with the ticket distribution

3) NHL wouldn't make available the Mobil Unit to stream the game.

But there will b e streaming for us.

Who is running these things?? First the Meet and Greet and now this?

Does Lou have his hand in this?

When in doubt blame Lou, only kidding, really?

1) The ceremony is before the game the next day against the Flyers.  With all the players except Richer, Zelepukin and Broten attending (Nieds confirmed yesterday he will be at the game), that is a lot of people with vastly different schedules.  The day before the ceremony was probably the only day they could realistically do it.  As you said there is a concert that day (Charlie Wilson whom I had to look up used to be the lead singer for The Gap Band).  That was probably scheduled way in advance so really there is not much they could do.

2) The practice rink holds about 600 people.  From what I've heard there are about 8-9K STH's.  That's a lot of fans whose hearts were destined to be broken.  The Devils gave STH's priority and gave each account the ability to purchase up to 4 tickets.  Some fans bought extras with the pure intention of reselling them (and they are going on ebay and SH for over $500 on a ticket they got for $50).  That to me is really low but that's impossible to stop.  Devils should have probably made all the tickets will-call but it is what it is.  The only other issue was that apparently the link that was supposed to open at 8AM for STH actually opened up at 7:45, so a lot of people got an early jump on it.

3) I think this is out of the Devil's hands.

It seems like a raw deal to a lot of fans but it is what it is.  I got shut out of it before I even had a chance since I am not a STH.  While I would have liked to go, I remember that team pretty well and I was even at game 4 of the 1995 SCF so I think between the 2 games, I saw the better one:)

Why can't msg air it on tv? At least we got a steam for it. The Devils don't care about people scalping these tickets but yet we can't sell our own season tickets without severe restrictions. What a joke.

I actually agree with that part.  Not only that but the Devils are the ones selling a large majority of the tickets you see on SH.  I mean before the season began each game on SH only had a couple hundred tickets available for each game.  Then when the renewals and such were finishing up and the season was about to start, one afternoon every game suddenly had 2000+ tickets available as if someone flicked a switch.  The only person who could do that is the Devils themselves.

They really need to re-think their position on this, especially when Devils tickets aren't exactly hot commodities.

This is where I fault the Devils the most...their own e-mail said 8 AM and they never corrected it.  While the site itself said 7:45 so you had to check beforehand to know it was actually going to start earlier.

And yes it's total hypocrisy to allow people to scalp these tickets while cracking down on selling February regular season tickets for half price.  I guess they couldn't entirely control the secondary market on this considering not everyone who bought tickets was an sth (had to reserve a few for public sale I think).

If this was the Rags celebrating the 1994 team, it would have been scheduled to take place in Yankee Stadium because such an event would be too great for even the World's Most Famous :puke: to hold.  It would have been aired live on MSG and simulcast worldwide for the masses to behold, with Beyoncé performing in between the 1st and 2nd, Springsteen between the 2nd and 3rd, and the Stanley Cup sitting "between the benches" with John Giannone.  Of course, Messier's team would have won and he would have cried like a baby for about an hour and a half after hoisting the cup one last time.

Seriously though, I think this was a great idea and it seems pretty unique as I never heard of another organization doing anything like this before.

I was one that went on at 8 am to try and get tickets and got shut out.  Not mad at all since the seating capacity was so limited.  Just wish they would have rented out South Mountain Arena or even Mennen for the game (I think both rinks hold approx. 2000), to give more people a chance to see it in person.  Since the ticket money is supposedly going to charity, it would have also given them an opportunity to raise more $$ as well.

Devils still have a lot of work to do.  The other major complaint I hear a lot is the lack of communications between the reps and the STH's. Another buddy of mine is in his first year as a STH and right now he is already on his 3rd sales rep.  The first rep got promoted and he has no clue what happened to the 2nd one they gave him.  They also never told him when they were replaced so he had no clue as to who his rep is.  I have heard a ton of complaints about this from other STH's on other message boards and on FB so he is not alone.

I know that the owners are still relatively new at this and they are still tinkering around with things (goal bar as we know it going away next season, modification of the club seats where there will be less "club" seats but the return of all-you-can-eat food, replacing the flex plan with a new "membership" plan, etc) but next year will be their third year in.  Issues like reps not returning phone calls and putting wrong times on when tickets open up are not hard nor expensive to implement.  These changes may seem small but they go a long way and I hope they make them.
