Third installment of the trilogy from Christopher Nolan releases tonight at 12:01am, I am personally super excited. I'm seeing it at AMC Rockaway 16 at 3:30am IMAX (12:01 sold out too quickly)

Wanted to see who is going to see it tonight/tomorrow; also thoughts of the trilogy ending, I would love to see it go on for more films but without Nolan I can't see the franchise comparing to him or Burton's 2 films.

I feel like I'm the only person not seeing this movie right now. Honestly, I don't understand the appeal of midnight showings. You have to get tickets in advance and then wait in line forever to make sure you get a decent seat, the theater is packed, and you get out at like 3 AM. One of my coworkers said he heard people in LA were spending $300 to see the premier. I just don't get it. It's not the Stanley Cup Finals, it's not front row seats to see your favorite band, it's a movie that will be exactly the same whether you spend $300 at midnight or $12 at 5:00 the next day.

Just got back. Thoroughly enjoyed it, and I'm satisfied with the triology's end, overall. It's probably too early to discuss its intricacies here, though.

I agree about the midnight movie theaters. The last movie I saw at midnight was Cloverfield and that was only because I didn't want to hear spoilers about what the creature was. Other then that I refuse to go to midnight movies but all my friends love to go. I think it's stupid.

That Colorado story is scary but even if they don't have a midnight showings anymore, movie theaters at night, especially on weekends are even more packed with people.

I was thinking that it will also hurt the appeal of this movie itself, but the studio will probably combat that by announcing that some portion of their proceeds will go to the families/charities.
It's not anything sensible. This is just a case of wrong place-wrong time, and it could have been anywhere. But it creeps people out for a while to replicate some of the circumstances of an event like this, so that's why I expect that diminished appeal to happen.

I'm going to see this probably next week or the week after. The theaters in NYC are jam packed, so I'll wait for the initial buzz to die down. In the meantime, I did a "review retrospective" of each of the six Batman films leading up to this one, so if you'ld like my take on each movie, here you go! On the subject of the actual movie, I'm going to see it tonight, and am SO PUMPED! I'm a huge fan of this trilogy, and am sad to see it end, although it's certainly better than it being watered down by an indefinite amount of sequels.

Everyone I've ever talked to disagrees with me about this, but I have always thought that Batman Begins is a better movie than The Dark Knight (though it is also a great movie). I just felt like Begins had a deeper, more complex plot with more drama and emotion than TDK. Once again, not that TDK was lacking in those areas, just thought Begins was better. Oh, and the actress who played Rachael Dawes in TDK was not very good IMO.

Like I said, I know I'm in the minority on this subject, and I don't expect to change anyone's opinions. I also understand exactly where you are coming from, in terms of how it doesn't have he feel of a batman movie. That's probably one part that like about it. That being how slow his progression from an angry guy obsessed with revenge to a champion of justice is. In too many superhero movies is the origin story rushed in order to get the action, which is most often the main crowd pleaser, but that's my opinion. I do however, completely disagree on Ra's Al Ghul being a "terrible" villain. He's a good antithesis to Batman in his views on how justice must be carried out, which is what leads to their clashes.

On the Holmes vs. Gyllenhaal thing, it's not a huge difference to me either. It was more-so just a point I threw on the end there, and I may not really be giving her a chance, because it's just a pet peeve of mine when movies change actors in important roles between sequels.

You sure that's a real IMAX theater, amigo? I'm pretty sure the only true IMAX theaters in NJ are in Jersey City and Atlantic City.

I still like the mini imax for the sound quality. That's worth the few extra bucks for a movie I'm really into. I go to the faux imax in New Brunswick.

Unfortunately I work 7 days a week so it's kind of hard to do. Yet I agree AC imax is incredible, just can't make that trip during the summer, too busy.

Overall I thought the movie was pretty good. Just too long and drawn out, Bane wasn't as much as I expected.

I saw the movie today and liked it. Yet another siege of gotham, a tired theme at this point. I really liked the ending, it tied everything up nicely.

I saw this today at the Imax at the liberty science center. Incredible seeing the movie there and well worth the money in my honest opinion. The only other true Imax movie theater in this area is the Lincoln Square Loews 13.

I had a hard time understanding Bane, at some points. Just couldn't decipher what he was saying.
