Marty on WFAN at 12:45

I think it's more because he's starting to see that he simply isn't what he was anymore, and there isn't a thing he can do about it. I don't think Lou would ever scold Marty, even if he didn't like some of Marty's quotes.

No but you rarely see Lou get defensive about anything publicly, he certainly got defensive about that comment when the media asked him about it.

I kind of want to see the Garden again post-renovation.  The last two times I was there wasn't so great, the Devils were shut out and there were all kinds of nonsensical Marty insults (this was during the Avery 'era') but I also was there in '06 Game 4 so there's that.

I'm 3-1 at garden games, (New York devils fan) I typically don't go to them only because its somewhat hostile. No one is going to start sh!t with you but its not a fun place to be when everyone probably wishes they could shiv you.

I never said it was based in fact but was simply my interpretation based upon Marty's statements both throughout the season and immediately after.

And you would be correct

"It's one thing when you get into a situation and they tell you exactly what is going to happen. I'm not saying I was promised anything but I definitely was not promised that, to sit back whenever games counted throughout the year."

"The situation I'm going to get myself in is something I'm going to be okay with. So if you see me here next year, it's because I'm okay to be sharing the net or doing whatever I'm told," Brodeur said. "But I'm not going to go through what I've done, thinking you're still No. 1 and the next thing you know (you're sitting).

But like CR and others have said Marty seems more at peace with things since then, maybe the final game was a bit of a catharsis for him.

You can tell, more and more, as we have time to reflect, how difficult all of this was for him, and that he was having a hard time coming to grips with it all. It would probably would've been a little better/simpler if he hadn't worked through it all through the media (where his quotes were not only open to interpretation, but definitely had a way of coming off in a less-than-favorable light).  Seems like he's sorting through the tougher/rawer emotions though.

I've been to the garden post renovation and while it is nicer, it's still not Pru Center nice. Only so much you can do since they couldn't expand the footprint of the arena. Corridors are still cramped. Lines still long everywhere. Plus there are still some obstructed seats (some where you can't even see the scoreboard) Devils have more food options too

The arena just has no breathability. The Devils have large wide concourses, team murals, the columns with players on them. The arena is branded Devils...it just drips Devils red and black. The new MSG is oddly neutral.

Went to MSG for a concert back in November.  Remember when Marty McFly goes back to 1985 at the end of Back to the Future, and the interior of his house is much fancier than it was before he went back in time, but it's still the same exact house on the outside?  That's how the "new" MSG is.  They've made it pretty nice within the confines of what they had to work with, but like '7' points out, there's only so much that could've been done with the concourse and the overall layout.

There are a million quotes that say a million different things. Saying Brodeur was upset is fine, I am arguing against the idea that Marty was promised something explicitly and that he was some vengeful freak this year.

I'm with Neb00rs here.  Marty is a quality character and was really sh!t on around here on the boards.  To attack his play is one thing, which was sub-par when compared to Schneids this year, but to attack his character and call him a 'cry-baby' or claim he has a poor attitude tells me that its very easy to take what Marty said out of context.  He legitimately loves the game of hockey and there is nothing wrong with that.  Especially in terms of, wanting to play as many games as possible.  And I'm glad to see that some of you are being put at ease with Marty's more recent comments.  Maybe I'm too easy-going and willing to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I really believe that Marty is not going to find a job, even as a backup elsewhere in the NHL, I dare anyone to convince me otherwise.  I also believe that Marty is man enough to come back here as a backup, swallow this pride that everyone talks about, and reach his NHL-record 700 wins (maybe more), and then retire as a New Jersey Devil for life.  Who knows? You never know when someone can get hurt and that's why its good to have a reliable backup and Marty can be that as long as his role is clearly defined and he can live with that. *knock on wood*  Marty re-signs here and gets maybe 15-20 games
