Joe B
Let's get this straight for the last time. It's ZID-LICK-Y, not ZID-LITCH-KEY! Around the time he left Nashville for the Wild he began pronouncing it Zidlicky. He used to pronounce it Zidlitchkey, but changed it for some odd reason. I remember clearly because either the Nashville or Wild announcers were talking about how it was kind of diva-ish. Did you watch pre-game when deb asked him to pronounce it and he said 'zid-litch-key'? Edited February 27, 2012 by Joe B
CarpathianForest
Did you watch pre-game when deb asked him to pronounce it and he said 'zid-litch-key'? I didn't, so I admit my error. It doesn't matter though since he'll be in the KHL next year after he bottoms out here in Jersey.
Satans Hockey
What a sh!tty day. The Daytona 500 never even started today for the first time in it's history and I just got done watching this game.
CarpathianForest
We're tied for 6th with Ottawa right now. I think the silver lining would be that we'd have to play on the road, cuz home ice advantage might suck for us.
NJDevs4978
The Devils lost a Game 7 that they were leading in the final 2 minutes. If they had gotten swept or beaten in 5, that might be relevant information, but as it stands it's circumstantial. The Devils lost Game 7 in part because Sutter reverted back to a pre-lockout mindset of checking lines and started doling out silly icetime, like three more minutes for Pandolfo than Elias and playing Zubrus under ten minutes. And that mindset started after the six-game losing streak.

EdgeControl
That was the highlight of the game in my opinion. I hope the devils website will put video of that up at least. He also missed a bunch of his earlier shots so that made it more amazing as no one was expecting him to make that last one. lol, he was a right hand shot and stepping with his right foot when he shot, it looked odd but he nailed it
NJDevs4978
That was 08-09, how do you account for the scenaro in 09-10? I was just talking about how regular season slumps 'can' bleed over into the playoffs. And really the same thing happened in '09-10 when the Devils were an average team for half the season after being an elite team for the first half, and they played like an average team in the playoffs. If you count the Toronto game this is a slump to me. We always start tumbling and falling into the playoffs come March. Only difference is that we're not in a solid playoff spot and the competition is much tighter.

Even if you go by the premise that Philly, Pittsburgh and Ottawa can pass the Devils easily and bump us to seventh, they'd still need 'three' Southeast teams to pass them to miss the playoffs, since one has to win the division. Or two Southeast teams and Toronto, which is just as farfetched. Especially since all those teams have extra game(s) played and are several plus points back. Again, the Devils need 'three' other teams to pass them besides Ottawa to miss the playoffs. Devils 21 games left, 74 points Florida 21 games left, 70 points Winnipeg 18 games left, 68 points Washington 20 games left, 67 points Toronto 20 games left, 65 points What three teams among that group are realistically passing the Devils? And if only one SE team passes the Devils it doesn't matter since they'd have to win their division anyway. CarpathianForest
You need to lighten up a bit. The sky isn't falling just yet. I tried to by recalling that even the Wings lost to the Avalanche last night at home, but then I forgot that we're not the Wings. Our 9-3-1 record looks good until you realize that over the past four games we've gone 1-2-1 and that win was in OT. We've got the Rangers tomorrow and Marty will probably stars, that bodes no good. NJDevs4978
Well at least the we're gonna pass the Rangers thread hasn't been bumped since this weekend started With the way this team's played at home, who wants home-ice anyway? I'd pass myself
ScoreMoreThan3
Seriously, Avery? I like you man, but you need to chill. We definitely deserved better against the Canucks and probably should have won this one too. Bad bounces and a few boneheaded plays costed us ? Yea. Well. Had to work Larrson back in some how. Not that the entire game was his fault but he just played soft. Just wish Hedberg started today/tomorrow. Don't agree with Marty starting back to back. Just sucks Garon ended up having a solid game like that. ...really? Really? They just can't lose to team like Tampa right now when their next two games are vs NY/BOS

Any 'one' team yes. Any three teams from that group of mediocrity, highly unlikely. You need two SE teams to pass the Devils to have one pass us. And that's assuming Ottawa also gets and stays ahead without Craig Anderson for the last month. If the Devils lose all three this week in regulation (unlikely but possible) then you can come back with the 'sky is falling' posts. Michalek, Karlsson and Spezza have all been consistently good this season which is more than I can say for any one player on our roster. Our top line vanishes in stretches, Elias has gone awol for a bit. The only line tat gets it done is the third.
