MadDog2020
I have to say it irks me a little, watching the game it was evident that they accepted defeat after one period and this just adds to it. I'm not going to rage about it because this season was a great success with reason to celebrate but the night of getting blown out 6-1? Come on, take some time to at least reflect on the season. And there it is.
cgb6397
And there it is. It had to be said, I think the "we weren't even supposed to be here" or "this season is already a win" mentalities are getting to everyone's head. Sure it's a decent way to look at this but when you're two games away from being the best in the sport, then you roll over and your first reaction is to hit the clubs? pleasepassthesoup
That was "partying it up"? Looked like a bunch of unhappy people in suits. Apparently going outdoors is frowned upon when you lose.

Within a couple of days you have players moving back with their familes in different states, and in different COUNTRIES. These guys wont be around each other again until training camp and some of these guys will never see each other again, ever. This is a tightly knit group of guys and I do not have any problems with this whatsoever.

There are other ways of being with each other than going into a club, going to a night club after a loss just makes it look like they don't care (not saying they don't) but I wouldn't be as upset if they say all went to the hotel bar as a team. Just look at Richards and Carter, they're image of party boys is the why we hate them and now it's just "blowing off steam"?

Just look at Richards and Carter, they're image of party boys is the why we hate them and now it's just "blowing off steam"? How do you know that one player happened to know of the club and decided to take the team there? Or that they know a person who works there or runs the place? Who cares in the end? Do you think that they don't care that they lost or something? I didn't see anything in the video that would show that they were falling over drunk or acting like fools. It's how you conduct yourself after losing and I don't believe that going to a club and walking out again shows me anything negative. Also, Carter and Richards are more than party boys... they destroyed a locker room. I don't think its comparable.

They even got a vintage piece of hardware for their troubles. it looks like we have a failure to communicate. what I should have said was that when Richards and Carter were expected to be some what leaders on a hockey club they were unable to put aside their party boy antics. when they are just two players on a team and play in a city where nobody cares about them or their sport (unlike Philadelphia) their behavior is not much of a problem. mikepeluso8
Anyone who has a problem with this: 1. Has never played sports 2. Doesn't understand professional sports 3. Overestimated this team's potential...sorry, I said it 4. Doesn't understand human psychology 5. Didn't watch the video They played 110 games and lost in game 6 of the SCF when NO ONE had them going to the playoffs...we heard how great of friends they were and how they all loved this season...what's wrong with going out to celebrate some hardwork and a great season after the season comes to an end? Seriously. One thing about this board is that it lacks diversity of opinion and people who actually understand how this world functions...from professional athletes to human psychology, anyone who is knocking this has their head up their ass...I am sorry. On a side note, when my varsity high school team lost in the conference finals back in 2003, we had a big party at my house to celebrate the season and our trip to the conference finals...was there a bit of a somber undertone? Absolutely. But when you go to war with the guys around you night in and night out for months and months, it is nice to share a few drinks after it is all said and done, win or lose. Get a grip! Hotel bars are great for business travelers who just want to kill 30 minutes and really are never fun to go to. The Devils players just went to the club, had a few drinks and a few laughs and that's it. They are no even close to what Richards and Carter have done. Vic Rattlehead18
This reminds me when the board criticized the rangers when they were seen at a bar after losing to the devils.
DevsMan84
This reminds me when the board criticized the rangers when they were seen at a bar after losing to the devils. I remember it as only a few criticizing them for that (and I wasn't one of them). I think it was more that it was the Rags doing it more than the fact they went to the club. If it was any other team we wouldn't care.

CaptainRafalski
Everybody handles things differently. Some guys do this to forget about disappointment for a little, some would go to the hotel, call their kids, family member whatever, sleep for 12 hours and some would play video games. If a player "doesn't care" about the results of the game and how they played I am sure that would be evident after just one game of them being on the team. There is no correlation between player A going to a bar after a loss and Player A not caring about said loss. If player A goes to the bar after every game and gets wasted, shows up drunk to practices and games, and otherwise doesn't give a crap about the game and the team then i would say it is time for that player to go.
