Where were you/what were you doing...

I am surprised no one has said breast feeding given the newer younger posters here.

No way man, that was a hella cool story... even if it does kinda reveal that PK wasn't a Devs fan yet.

I was 12 years old, at home watching the game on TV - I remember being disappointed that I couldn't bust the Rangers' fans balls since school was already out.

I drank Mountain Dew out of a champagne glass - I don't quite know why.

Haha, you drank it out of a champagne glass because it was a celebration, bitches!

I too was 12 years old. I was unforunately stuck with my Cub Scouts pack en route to Camp Daniel Boone in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. It was a two-day trip to get down there. One of the pack leaders' parents owned a restaurant called Granny's Chicken Palace in Ashville, and we spent the travel night sleeping in the place's banquet hall (yes, a fried chicken restaurant had a banquet hall ... ah to be in the south). That night also happened to be the night the Devils won the Cup. So there we were, about thirty 12-year olds huddled around a 12" black and white TV in Granny's Chicken Palace's waiting area screaming out stupid faces off with every goal, every save, every hit, etc. After the game was over, there was a mess of jubilant little Jersey kids running around screaming "HOW SWEEP IT IS!" and "LEGION OF BROOM!" while the locals just stared at us. It was amazing.

During our two-week stay at the campsite (where we were the only kids from New Jersey, BTW), a group of Carolina kids came up to us and said, "We heard your boys won the Cup ... what in the hell is the Cup?" And now they have a Stanley Cup championship team of their own. Thank you very much, Mr. Bettman.

HAHA! All these stories are great, but this one is, BY FAR, the best!

I probably told this story before... but it puts a smile on my face so here it goes. My old boss bought tixxs to every round of the playoffs/ stanley cup to give his customers. He was gracious enough to give me a pair in every series and as it turned I had Game 2 at home for the Cup. We drove the convertible (ahhh) with a huge Devs flag tied to the trunk and tailgated. Up in section 231 - a few rows from the top, the place starts to shake while the guys are introduced.

The moments - burned in my brain - all happen in slow motion now, Broten - Stevens- Chambers - Peluso - someone opens a champagne bottle a few seats behind us and we all take a swig. A picture, a moment in time where the mrs and I are hugging and the cup is being skated over our shoulders ...outside its raining and when we do the cattle walk people are actually walking on top of it - I buy Champion Tees from the guys from the lot $8 a pop.. We stop at the Rt 3 Diner on the way home and celebrate with all the fans .. Of course then there was the parade but thats another story

Yeah Im smiling ...

I was sitting in my room watching the game on a small television, desperately wanting to go outside into the backyard and play roller hockey with my brother, just 'cuz I was so amped from the game itself. I remember the next day we played, and I nearly got my head knocked off when I was bending over to pick something up and my brother thought it would be a convenient time to take a slap shot. You could hear my screaming from blocks away, as told by my mother, who had been taking a walk around town.

The trip to the ER that followed was so amazing, in the idea that it wasn't amazing at all.

It's okay though, I got my brother back not long after when we were playing some sort of weird ninja type game at our cousin's pool. He dove underwater while I went for a roundhouse kick, clocked him right in the nose and successfully broke it. The pool water actually turned dark red from all the gushing blood.

We were never invited back for any more pool parties after that.

Oh to be a child again...

Aww some good stories guys.

I was 10 and I was at home watching the game. I remember my grandma was over babysitting my sister and me because my parents were at the game. My grandma kept asking if it was my cousin who was playing (he was playing HS hockey at the time for Seton Hall Prep) and I had to keep explaining that no he wasn't. My neighbors and I had made our version of the stanley cup out of tin foil (it was a sad looking stanley cup) and after they won we were running up and down the street yelling. (I lived on a dead end) After they won, my neighbor's dad came over to put up this Devils banner we had on the front lawn with a spotight on it. I lived across from a street that had a lot of traffic (near 280 in West Orange) and so when people drove by they would honk the horns to acknowledge the sign.

I was 10, and not particularly a fan of hockey or the Devils at the time, yet I do remember some vague points somehow. I remember passing through our living room where the TV was and stopping behind the recliner and noticing the TV. I don't remember if the person controlling the remote was channel surfing or watching the game, but I remember seeing the very end of the broadcast and commenting, "Oh the NJ team won, that's cool" or something of that nature, then I remember seeing an ad for the show "Sliders" and leaving the room. Later that night, I remember listening to my radio before going to bed, and they played "Devil With a a Blue Dress On" and the DJ commented beforehand, "Martin Brodeur in a mini skirt?" Don't ask how I'm remembering these minute things!

But that Cup, indirectly, was what got me into hockey. My cousin got me into the Devils due to us watching "Heaven" over and over again that summer. Good times! Also, tying to this thread, ya'll might want to check this out: http://www.youtube.com/McKay4429061

I have actually watched all the Devils Stanley Cup wins from a hotel in Myrtle Beach. 1995 was my senior year of high school. 2000 was with my future husband (his senior year) and then we watched the 2003 game together at the beach as well. Crazy, I never thought about it or made the connection until now. Unfortunately, I also saw them lose in 2001 in a hotel at Myrtle Beach.

At the game.

I had a partial season tix package in'94. Being the poor government servant at the time, those, plus the playoff tix were expensive for me.

So in '95 I did not have any ticket plans.

But..........after the Devs beat the Failyers in the semi's, I put an ad in the Philadelphia Enquirer classifieds advertising that I wanted to purchase Stanley Cup Finals games. A lot of Failyer fans had bought tix to the Conference Finals, and in order to do that, had to purchase Finals tix also.

After alot of shady calls, I met with a guy who wanted to go to game 3, but he sold me game 4 and 6. He repaid me for the Game 6 tix, and I gave him a PBA Card.

I took the now Mrs. Leeds.

I was at that Game & Game 7 Ducks............couldn't make it to Dallas Game 5 or Colorado Game 6......so it's easy to see I'm a huge reason they won those. :P

I was 27 and single, so I was at a bar :) Friends of mine were playing in a band and they stopped their set to see the end of Game 4. The singer was a Rags fan, but rooted for the Devils over the Wings. The previous year I was at the same bar, watching the same band, when the Rags won, and they stopped then too.

It was the first time any team I followed won anything while I followed them (I'm a Dolphins fan but was a wee bit young in the early 70s). It was a wonderful night, and the whole series was one long 'pinch me is this real?' moment. Having followed the Devils since they were really, really bad it was very special.
