Just a brute, right handed, intelligent, guy who can play big minutes against the biggest and the baddest.

Sounds exactly like what we need.

Did you watch him all year? This guy was an absolute goat in the playoffs. Maybe things change if he left Montreal, but the dude flat out sucked this year when it mattered.

I watched him most of the year, I saw a frustrated talented player who made a few rough plays while trying to do too much, with absolutely no help from his forwards and sh!tty goaltending behind him. He'll have all the support in the world and coaching here.

Maybe on your fantasy team Manta. It won't be for the Devils. Like Jerry said, I will be suprised if Lou makes that bad move.

Havelid was BAD AWFUL. How can anyone say he was doing well or played solid? I know many of us watched the same games and Devils team and havelid was far from playing good at all. The records show and this defensive group was doing well without him. Greene and Salvador were playing well and a lot better than Havelid/Salvador was that is for sure. Mottau and Greene are both better than Havelid. Sorry.

Havelid is just terrible and just could not get into the the system the Devils were implying. he is not even close to understanding or getting here in New Jersey. This series with Carolina and Game 7 is a perfect example that Havelid has no fvcking clue how to play in the system.

Yeah Gomez isn't going to sign with the rangers either, eh?

I never had a problem with him until that game tying goal. How you can allow a hash mark to hash mark pass is beyond me and really inexcusable. Those passes just don't get through in the NHL.

Agreed 100%. He was a decent, solid #4/#5 d-man for most of his time on this team. However, that tying goal, as you said, was inexcusable. A defenseman has to be aware of the forward waiting back door and prevent that pass. I actually supported Havelid until that play, but letting that pass go through left a really bad taste in my mouth.

With that said, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lou resign him. This reminds a lot of the Salvador situation. We traded for the Sal at the deadline and he was just okay for the rest of the season. Lou resigned him and a bunch of people were pretty confused as to why, but he ended up being a solid addition to the team. I could see the same thing happening with Havelid.

I'm not a fan of the Salvador/Havelid comparisons. After Salvador got back from being hurt, he was our #2 down the strech playing almost as good as Martin, better then Mottau, White, better defensively than Oduya.

Maybe it's just me? :noclue:

You guys must be retards, the guy had +4 in 63 games with the trashers, u don't think that is good? he also had +- 0 in the carolina series, some other jersey D's had worse. And add the fact that it can be hard to join a whole new team.

Add to that a defenseman typically needs at least 6 months to learn the systems and get chemistry with a partner. I believe Havelid will be a Devil next year.

Like Zajkisen said, he's confirmed in a Swedish paper that he's looking for an SHL team to play for. He won't be back, rest assured.

Thank goodness!

I don't share those sentiments about hoping every defense we get at the deadline should stay and eat a roster spot. He may be better than any of the young players in the system but I would rather one of them get a shot then knowing Havelid eating 1/6 of our dspots

Don't be surprised when Havelid is re-signed before July 1st.

Havelid has said that he wants to go back to Europe and do the family thing after these playoffs, however, this was prior to the trade.

I wont be surprised one bit if he is done. That being said, I also wont hate to see him back. The entire team is at fault for the collapse and Havelid was not the weak link.

All of our d is pretty lackluster and average.

this.

if you're gonna blame havelid, blame the entire d. most of our defense was pure crap for the most part anyway. havelid wasn't good, but he wasn't the worst we had out there. that sad, i don't want him back on this team next year.

granted, i also kind of wish that we could draft some monkeys with lasers on their heads to play d, so i'm not quite sure my mind is completely in the right place right now.
