msweet
The time has come to determine where New Jersey's only namesake team has carved out a niche in one of the most established sports universes on the planet. The New Jersey Devils are nothing new in the Garden State, calling the state home since the early 1980s. They've won three Stanley Cups since they arrived, were led by arguably the greatest goaltender of all time in Martin Brodeur and, up until recently, were led by one of the most revered general managers in the sport in Lou Lamoriello. But where is their fan base? With the Stanley Cup Finals kicking into gear last night, we wanted to find out. http://www.nj.com/sports/njsports/index.ssf/2015/06/whats_your_favorite_area_hockey_team_help_us_draw_njs_nhl_borders.html
'7'
Interesting the timing of this poll coming out, with the Rags at their most popular since the mid 90s and the Devils at their lowest in a while. Where was this in 2004 or 2005 or even 2006? sounds like someone at nj.com wants to shame the Devils.

Lately nj.com has been resorting to these sort of maps and "vote for the best xxxxx in NJ" lists a lot lately. It's an easy way to draw visitors to their site. I guess things really are THAT BAD at the Star Ledger.
TheMazz
Of course Dover/Rockaway/Denville has to disappoint me by being a bunch of bandwagoners. No one in this area gave two fvcks about the Rangers not even 5 years ago.
Devilsfan118
This is going to show the NY Bandwagon out in full force. fvck do I hate NJ.com. They go out of their to discredit and bash both Rutgers and the Devils.

And they also allow anyone from anywhere in the country to vote in this poll, and multiple times..so what's the fkn point?

They are also running a best burger in NJ vote/contest right now. Under the category of best burger bar, they had at one point Brick City Bar and Grill as a nominee. Yes, a place that closed about 18 months ago was up for best bar burger in NJ lol. Edited June 5, 2015 by DevsMan84

Weekes Head
Well, a little tidbit here - the author/creator of this story is actually a diehard Devils fan. Steve used to be part of the 2MA crew with me, Josh, and Joe, and his career has really taken off in the past few years. He's with NJ Advance Media now which coincides with NJ.com and mostly does weather reports and stories, but it's always nice to see him get a chance to get any sort of hockey-related piece out there. Alas, those are just my 2cents. And of course, I voted my ass off for the Devils. Sucks to see the map getting bluer and bluer though. Such is life. dmann422
Kind of BS since they literally encourage you to vote as many times as you want. But I am a bit surprised that some of the wealthier towns in Bergen are leaning red. Also glad to see my hometown solid red, but there was never any doubt. NJDfan1711
This sucks, I thought it was nation-wide. I can't vote from FL I can't even choose where I was from either, because I was born/from Long Island.
thecoffeecake
This map is crap. It's clear it's being vote bombed. I don't think there is more than a handful of NJ towns that have more Rangers fans than Devils. Jersey City might be one, but Edison sure as hell isn't one of them. I can also tell you Absecon does not have more anything than Flyers fans, I'm not just being biased here.

DevilMinder
Voted for Jackson, its pretty much 60% devils and 35 Rangers 5% flyers by my visual counting of fan gear in public

thecoffeecake
I'm guessing you meant phillies/yankees?No. How many towns are predominantly Phillies in baseball and Devils in hockey. How the NJ identity creeps over the traditional New York-Philadelphia line.

'7'
Really trying my best to flip Totowa for some reason Rags fans got to Wayne. No way in hell is that such a Rag stronghold. BS
DevsMan84
My town hillsborough was solidly red a few days ago and now it's solidly blue. No way as almost every hockey fan I know in my immediate area are devils fans. Rags fan or fans are out in force to skew the results. That plus the band wagoners really screwing things us.
