NJDevs4978
Yeah the thing Chico and Steve are ignoring is that puck possession does not matter if you don't get scoring chances. For as well as we've contained Pitt the 2nd and 3rd, the Pens have more good chances. Many people here ignore that too, when they keep citing the advanced stats as reasons why we will score. NJDevs4978
Great tone to set for the season too. Being shut out on opening night. Just outstanding, really. Against a guy who couldn't stop a beach ball for eight months and was probably getting booed in intros, now they're showering him with Fleury chants. All without their best defenseman. Daniel
Larsson is a bust. Someone explain to me what this guy does that is at all effective? The only thing we're told is "he's only [fill in age] years old." I don't think we had the puck anywhere near the slot all night. Absolutely not even in the area code.

Devilsfan118
You guys should keep in mind though: These are the Penguins. They'll likely be the top team in the East, you don't expect the Devils to win this game very often.

Rogan The Goat
Tired of pass to point, shot, forcheck for 48937248957328957238947589237489578924375897234895723890 years, back to point, shot, forcheck, point , shot, forcheck, point, shot, forcheck. MIX IT UP. It's the same play every time! No set-ups, just getting it to the point and letting terrible d men like Volch and Bryce to take shots. This is ridiculous. The game itself was extremely boring as well. Also, stop turning the puck over for gods sake. ridiculous amount of giveaways. Maybe if they didn't turn it over so much Schnieder could actually have a shot and getting a win. Terrible game. Not worried, it's one game but mix it up. They'll be better tomorrow. Mike Brown
Well this team is continuing right where it left off. I liked the effort for the most part though. And Cory Schneider proved he is human. Oh well. On to tomorrow night.

maxpower
Well this team is continuing right where it left off. I liked the effort for the most part though. And Cory Schneider proved he is human. Oh well. On to tomorrow night. He gave up one bad goal where he's half responsible for it. This is the thing about them controlling shot counts, they don't produce with theirs and the chances they give up in return are pretty decent. Mike Brown
I'm certainly not worried. I'm confident that this team will be able to pot some goals.
DH26
See you guys next year this is over. Hopefully we're this bad again next year so we can get McDavid. Do you guys think we'll win a single game or score a single goal? Man that Larsson's worse than Tyler Myers x10 he sucks It's well known no playoff team's ever played one bad game against the best team in the conference with the 2 best centers in the league
Rogan The Goat
How can some of you even call yourself fans? "Seasons over" "Moose = Schnieder" One game, ONE GAME and some of you are already sh1tting on the team. Grow up my god. They'll be fine, it's one game. That's the beauty of hockey, it's not like football where that one game can derail the whole season. We faced probably the best team in the NHL, I'm pretty sure with the effort we put in tonight we would have been able to beat 25 other teams. Lets be realistic, stop bringing up last year, and support the team we've been supporting from day one.
Ollie McKraut
The penguins faced the best team in the NHL tonight. We are the best team in the NHL. This is our cup season baby. #believe
Mike Brown
If it makes any of us feel better, Scott Gomez scored a goal. Edited October 4, 2013 by Mike Brown
devils102
If it wasn't for the end of last year, I'd write that game off as a loss to a good team that played great defense and got saves when they needed them. But as others have pointed it out, it seems like the Devils are playing a different sport, one that requires getting the puck behind the net as often and quickly as possible. Shooting through 8 guys and hoping to hit a stick is not going to consistently get you goals. Still... It is game one. Let's not panic yet. Brunner looked great. Loktionov too. If the league was smart Tanner Glass would get a phone call. The hit on Salvador was a bit late, but since Sal turned halfway through it is hard to blame Glass too much on the play. But the hit on Larsson -- Glass saw nothing but letters the whole way and didn't stop. If Larsson is injured that's probably a suspension.
