2014 UFA Signing Thread

Apparently Boyle left money on the table to sign with the Rags.

In my 20+ years of following the Devils, I have never read or heard of an UFA doing that to sign with the Devils.  (This is not counting guys like Marty who signed for less but never hit the UFA market).

LOLOL

That's fvcking awful

On it's surface its a terrible deal but my guess is that Tallon wants to get a few veterans in there to show the Panthers young players what it takes to be a professional so they don't end up like the Oilers.  I think it's all about the development of their young guys.  That's all I can come up with.

In what world is Dave Bolland worth 5 million over 5 years? In what fvcking world?

That's what happens in FA. You almost always have to overpay to get players. It's also the reason that the best teams in a salary cap league aren't built through FA the way the Devils have been forced to lately due to their poor drafting.

Thanks, obviously we ALL know 'what happens in FA'' - and the point has been repeated a million times on this board over the years. In this case Bolland got almost double value if you ask me.

His value is what he got. That's the beauty of a free market. You may not think he is worth that money, but at least 1 GM did, and there were likely a few others that thought his value was close to what he eventually got.

 Thanks captain obvious. I think in that case we should not analyze or debate any of these signings today.
