brylin18 Posted December 11, 2013 Share Posted December 11, 2013 this season is a waste of my time. this is a horribly mediocre team. does lou lamoriello honestly believe that this team can win a stanley cup? look at this sh!t team.....its a joke. it seems lou is content in having one of those middling teams that makes the playoffs some years and promptly get bounced out, or scrapes and claws its way through the end of the year only to get eliminated from playoff contention after losing a deciding regular season game to the fvcking carolina hurricanes in some stupid anti-climatic playoff "push", after marty goddamn brodeur lets in a goal with 3.8 seconds left in the motherfvcking game. why we are keeping this piece of trash team afloat with guys like fvcking jaromir jagr or michael ryder? are you kidding me with this lou? jagr is a guy that the boston bruins acquire on their way to a stanley cup run. he should not be a team's leading motherfvcking scorer! and the worst part is it's not going to get any better! what do i have to look forward to next year? a solid young defense and a good goaltender, ok, yes.....where are the goals gonna come from lou?! this forward unit is pathetic group. there's no way that they can be counted on to score for sh!t. my question to lou is this: when did it become acceptable for you to ice mediocre teams that have NO chance in winning a stanley cup? All I gotta say to the OP is go be a Rangers fan, please.LL did the best he could with the unknown's this summer. He took us to a SCF just two years ago, I think that bought him some slack. If this team was a 25-30th team, I'd think people would start jumping off bridges. Christ...pretty sure we were just over .500 in mid December in the 11-12 season...I assume that season was a waste too since they only had won a couple more games than we have this year......... Did you watch the game last night? We didn't scrape and claw, the reason we lost is a poor goalie choice by PDB. That was not the best team that we could put out on the ice. The best team we could put out on the ice wins that game probably 3-2/3-1 or 4-2. Also Columbus isn't that terrible, pretty sure they spanked the wild 4-0 a few nights ago. Well, RFAs don't get signed for any compensation besides draft picks, and teams don't trade next year's first round pick during the regular season anymore. Did you think that was just going to go on forever? Welcome to a down cycle (and you just saw the Devils get to a Cup final BTW). All teams have them, and like you noted in your initial post, some pieces are starting to come through the system. It may not be as long a down period as you think. That hasn't exactly happened this year. But there is still time for that to happen. I will not give up on this team until they are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Now that was bad and sad. Presently, we are in a lousy bump in the road in the life of the organization. The difference back then was that there was no expectations...the team coming to NJ was bad and everyone knew it. And everyone also knew it was going to take several years and drafts before the team would be a playoff contender. It's also hard to ice a team as bad as those early Devils teams...just like you don't see the true powerhouse teams anymore, you also don't see truly god-awful '83-'84 Devils-type teams either. Much more parity now. Expectations have been high here for so long, some people don't know how to lower them. The days of the Devils being an automatic playoff team are over. They're a team that's going to have to fight and claw to get in. But at least they're not DOA...the early Devils teams had no chance of competing, and everyone knew it before the first puck had even been dropped.
