There is contradictory in info concerning Tverdovsky. One day the papers say that he might miss the entire season, another day Lamoriello says that he is feeling better. Who knows what's going on at this point, but take a look at yesterday's papers.

One thing for sure though is that he isn't holding out (it was said last week that he might be), because if he was Lou would have suspended him so he doesn't have to pay his salary.

They mentioned him in the pre-game yesterday, but it was more of the same - no definitive conclusion on WHAT happened, what's wrong (other than being symptomatic) and certainly no return dates or deadlines.

Which worries me. At least if the guy broke his leg, even if he was out 4-6, he's only out 4-6.

I mean, what if Tvo never comes back?

good point about suspension.

I don't get NJ/NY yesterday's papers so I don't know what was written.

Thanks for info.

USA has had nothing about situation.

It's not even discussed any more on pre game shows, Center Ice or ESPN that's why I wondered if it had been resolved.

I think that Tverdovsky is just a fragile person physically, and is very soft emotionally and mentally can not adjust quickly if at all that well.

I think he is stalling a bit, but i never like to call anyone a liar, he hasnt looked happy, hasnt sounded happy.

Just think he will end up on another team in the offseason

You obviously haven't seen Oleg play that often. If you had you wouldn't call him soft or fragile. This is a guy who played 363 consecutive games. So fragile, I think not. I've seen him take hits and be in pain on the ice and not miss a shift after that. He hasn't missed this many games since his rookie season.

Surprise Surprise, Your Wrong

I have watched Tverdovsky play, and i assure you he is not physical.

I dont know what player you were watching, but he is always whining about something back to his days with Phoenix, I have followed him since the very first day he was drafted, and he is fragile, he will often play lackadaisacally and take shifts off even if he hops on the ice.

And you may want to get your facts straight before you post. Tverdovsky played in 263 straight games, but in nearly half of them logged less than 10 minutes.

Also, he missed half the season in 97-98. And also missed 9 games last season.

No, he did play over 300 consecutive games.

46 in 97-98 (contract dispute), between 98 and 2001, 246 games and last year 73 before he had to miss the last 9 ones because of a groin injury. And I don't know how many minutes he logged. All I know is that he played all those games.

And I never said that he was a physical player because he's not. He can take a lot of beating though.

Wow, if Tverdovsky played less than 10 minutes in half of his games, he must be even better than I thought offensively. How's he supposed to put up those kinds of points with 10 minutes of ice time?

Tverdovsky routinely logged 25-28 minutes as a member of the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, playing 82 games a season.

Tverdovsky is not a physical player, but a guy can't play that many minutes without taking hits.

It mentions none of his minutes logged, and does not indicate his full complement of statistics.

One thing I am trying to say is that he is bloody inconsistent, thats why hes been traded so many times in his young career, teams get him on his potential, and he fails to adjust and see that his game is flawed.

Anaheim traded Tverdovsky the first time because they wanted Selanne, not because of anything else. The Devils were rumored to be offering Niedermayer for the Finnish Flash at the time, would that have been a similar case?

Phoenix basically gave him back to Anaheim, but that was the low point of his career.

In Anaheim, he flourished. Had two 50 point seasons and was the Ducks #1 defenseman, paired with either Pavel Trnka, Vitaly Vishnevsky, or Frederik Olausson. The Tverdovsky-Olausson-Kariya-Rucchin (Cullen) - Selanne was a top 5 power play, and I'm sure Oleg got plenty of points off it.

I believe in this Sykora deal, Oleg was again being used as an expendable player, not as a player that Anaheim wanted to get rid of. With Vishnevsky's rise, and Keith Carney's solid, unremarkable defensive play, Tver had probably played himself off the first pairing last season. It is obvious, however, that Anaheim needed a guy like Tverdovsky, and finally got one last week in Ozolinsh.

Coldply,

Oleg was traded from the Ducks to the Jets for Teemu frickin Selanne in his prime. The Jets turned into the Coyotes. Gauthier, who was the assistant GM of the Ducks back in 94 and who was very instrumental in drafting Oleg became the Ducks GM and traded a first round draft pick (something which the team has never done before) in 99 to get Oleg back. Basically, Oleg has played for 2 org. before he was traded to the Devils. The reason he was traded is because he didn't get along with Murray. According to the Ducks beat writter Oleg, not Friesen, was the key to the deal. As a 10 year Ducks season ticket holder, I have watched Oleg play for many years and I know for a fact that the only years Oleg was playing under 10 minutes a game was his rookie years. Oleg loves to play and I can assure you no one is more upset about not playing then him.

Thanks for the Info on Tverdovsky, Sashanova.

Quick Hits on Sykora,

What do you like best about him so far, performance and skill wise?

What do you think Ozolinsh can bring to the team as a whole?

How are Leclerq and Macdonald progressing as well as Chistov?

Thanks for the nice welcome mrsheeps! Much appreciated.

Coldply, I do like Sykora very much. He is a guy not afraid to shoot the puck which is a godsend to Anaheim. He and Kariya accounted for 18 SOG against PHO on Friday night. He compliments Kariya well but I am pretty impressed with the way he has jelled with Oates. Of course Oates has *maybe* one year left in him so I'd like to see Sykora play with Rucchin a bit more to see the chemistry they can develop.

Ozolinsh will probably be the cause of as many goals against as goals he scores. :) He has actually played pretty well in the 4 games he has played as a member of the Ducks. He nneds more games under his belt with the team before I can properly judge what he will ultimately bring to the table. I will say I admire his fearlessness and his creativety.

Chistov is doing great! That kid has some amazing moves. Both he and Andy Mac play much bigger then their size. I am extrremely impressed with Macdonalds play this season (before his concussion). The remainder of the season is in question for him due to post concussion syndrom. Mike leclerc is a bull. Only problem is he is injury prone. Last year he missed a big portion of the season due to an infected bursa sac. This year he's missed a bunch of games due to knee surgery. When heatly he reminds me a little bit of Shanahan. Jason Krog has been real impressive as well.

Sorry for the long read about the Ducks.

GO DEVS!
