  1. wasn't Joe an Islander's homer not too long ago when Yashin & Peca were there ?
  2. I have a working link for the game but not sure if I can post it here. can someone guide me if I'm allowed to post links to other websites
  3. http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=418641 First the coach, now the general manager. The Minnesota Wild announced Thursday that Doug Risebrough will not return next season as general manager. The surprise move comes less than a week after coach Jacques Lemaire resigned. That means the Wild's two architects since its inception are gone.
  4. Everyone seems to forget that if Brodeur were to allow a goal during the first 2 periods of this game (whether it is soft or not), with the team psyche the way it was down the stretch, this would be a different game. Considerting he didn't give them anything, I think I'm okay with Neverson saying he outplayed Ward. After all, it was a bone headed clear that caused Ward to give up the first goal.
  5. I think it is more to do with answering the same questions year after year. At some point, it is going to become so routine and I don't think any of these athletes want the reporters to think they are not responsive. I feel like there is no sincerity in having that conversation at that time which might be making him look like he is drained.
  6. This is a tough one. I know folks have a tendency to say winning goaltender outplayed the losing goaltender. If for some reason, Brodeur were to allow weak goals, it could have given Canes some life. I guess he did outplay Ward as he didn't give up any until it was too late for canes to come back.
  7. It is messed up big time. Lundqvist - 38-28-7 in 70 games Theodore - 32-19-5 in 57 starts (here he gets to play the game without winning/losing. I'm guessing he got pulled during the game) Biron - 29-21-5 in 55 starts (looks okay) Fleury - 35-22-7 in 62 starts Mason(Blues) 27-27-7 in 57 starts Luongo 33-22-7 in 54 starts I don't know if any of you remember that Doc is always busting Chico's chops during broadcast about how Goalies are most important and how the Goalies are unfairly treated. By looking at the stats, it does feel like Goalies are not treated fairly by NHL
  8. Guys... I know we always pick on ESPN for messing up stuff with NHL in general. But can you believe NHL Network is showing that Brodeur was 19-14-3 in 31 games. At first I thought I made a mistake. I have the DVR functionality so I had to rewind to make sure I'm not going crazy. Who is in charge of these things anyway. Not only this, Cam Ward is apparently 39-29-5 in 68 games too. Just thought it was funny... Anyway, Lets Go Devils. Don't let the Canes start on a good note. Get them early & often
  9. I know all of us take Єklund (2.3% accurate) (2.3% accurate)'s rumor with a grain of salt but I just had to post this. I'm curious to see what Tri thinks of this.. 10:19 According to a Source the NJ DEVILS are trying to make a substantial trade the will "shake the organization." I am hearing that it may involve Elias and I am hearing the Canucks have SERIOUS interest and could trade some D salary back to NJ. Also with interest in Elias...the Maple Leafs and the Canadiens. Would Lou do something like this Go Devils. Mods.. Please delete this thread if it is already posted by other user. I didn't find this in any other thread.

  13. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=164652&hubname=nhl WEST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) - The cost of negotiating with Patrik Elias skyrocketed in the first round of the NHL playoffs. Elias single-handedly outscored the Rangers 5-4 and matched a Devils' single-round playoff record with 11 points in leading New Jersey to an opening-round sweep over their archrivals. Not only did the performance boost Elias' image and asking price heading into free agency in the off-season, but it proved the 30-year-old Czech has recovered from a bout of hepatitis-A that caused him to miss the first three months of the regular season. Elias is not concerned about a new contract just yet. "It's going to be an issue obviously," said Elias, who spent the past two days hiking and relaxing. "It's going to be on my mind when the time is right. Not right now. I am just happy that I can play." A little more than a year ago, Elias' career was in question. He picked up the more serious type of hepatitis while playing in Russia during the NHL lockout, and it took him a long time to recover from the energy-sapping illness. "I feel fine," said Elias, whose enzyme levels are still a little elevated. "I feel good. I have no problems. There are a lot of people who don't know they have elevated enzyme levels." Elias, who didn't play in a game until Jan. 3, was limited to 38 games in the regular season. What is important to note is that his return sparked the team, helping it rally from a 19-point deficit to win the Atlantic Division on the final day of the regular season. New Jersey's season-ending 11-game winning streak - which has now reached 15 games - started shortly after coach Lou Lamoriello put Elias on a line with Sergei Brylin and Jamie Langenbrunner. Elias had seven of his 16 goals after the switch. Elias ignited the sweep of the Rangers with a six-point game in the series opener, a contest in which Jaromir Jagr of New York went down with a shoulder injury. The series was never competitive. "We don't want to pinch ourselves now," Elias said. "We're feeling good about the game we have been playing. We know the series we played, they had a couple of injured guys but that doesn't take anything away from the game we played or what we accomplished." A member of the Devils' championship teams in 2000 and 2003, Elias believes this team can beat anyone if it continues to play the way it has been. Goaltender Martin Brodeur said in the old NHL there would be little doubt that Lamoriello, who also the Devils general manager and president, would re-sign Elias. However, the salary cap that was part of the new collective bargaining agreement might tie Lamoriello's hands. The cap is $39 million US this year. Many think it will increase next season, but that's uncertain. Elias signed a one-year $4-million contract before this season. He is looking for a new agent to represent him. "He really likes to be here," Brodeur said of Elias. "I have talked to him a lot and he's had success learning to play in this organization. He loves to play here, but I had the same feeling about Scott Niedermayer. I never thought he would leave." One of the league's top defencemen, Niedermayer rejected a Devils' offer and signed with the Mighty Ducks after the new CBA was signed. Until then, Lamoriello had always found a way to keep his best player. Lamoriello declined to discuss Elias' upcoming free agency after the Devils returned to practice on Tuesday, following two days off. "I have been here my whole career," said Elias, whose 33 career playoff goals are one shy of the Devils' mark held by Claude Lemieux. "I have accomplished something here and proved myself in a good position. I have worked hard and gotten an opportunity to succeed, so I'm just happy for that. On the other hand, there are things that can be an issue." Elias laughed when asked to specify the issues. Last two sentences bother me. I hope he re-signs with the team
